Friday night, I played in Richard's Mutants and Masterminds one-shot, and that was really fun. It is nice now and then to have a game that isn't strictly serious and goal-oriented. Richard ran it such that no matter how much random role-playing we did the plot kind of unfolded around us until we finally took notice of it. That was great ( Read more... )

The FCC's unfettered power is truly scary. The ABC TV network was supposed to show Saving Private Ryan tonight, in recognition of Veterans' Day, but many of the local stations are afraid that people will whine to the FCC who will in turn do nasty things to the broadcasters. Rachel and I celebrated Samhain last night. I know it sounds a little late for that, but it's closer to the actual cross-quarter (i.e., the halfway point between the Solstice and Equinox. So there you have it. It was a nice ritual. We're really getting our personal traditions sorted out.
