Cuz Nixon's got such a history of being terrible, but for the plot to work they kind of had to use him as a hero. I felt like the script couldn't decide how they wanted to deal with him. Like when the Doctor tells him he'll "be remembered" (or something) and you get this weird feeling that this guy who'd wandered around most of the episode being pretty bad-ass was going to go do sketchy things and the show didn't know how to reconcile that. It wanted to be snarky about how he's remembered as a terrible president, but then still use his presidency to make things feel more epic. But he's not in the least an epic president. I dunno. Sorry for my rambling.
I imagine they'll bring Canton back. It seemed like they were setting him up for that. I've got my fingers crossed.
Baby River yes except then she should remember killing the Doctor by the lake and she was shocked when she witnessed it. If it had been her, she ought to have been expecting it.
My friend has a theory that the little girl is Jenny's daughter, but I don't really buy it.
I'm still not sure it was the little girl in the space suit. I feel like by the time we saw the space suit in 2011 someone else was inside it. I dunno. I should really learn to stop trying to figure these things out before Moffat reveals his grand plans to us.
The Jenny connection is interesting, but I feel like it would have to be a little more convoluted than that.
