Feeling Official

Today, I officially started my job. It feels like where I want/need to be. It's big enough and different enough that I think I will have a lot of room to grow and a lot to learn as quickly as I can. At the same time, it became immediately apparent that they were willing to throw me right into editing and writing stories regularly.

Your reading list is eerily similar to mine -- I finished Atonement earlier this summer, and have both Going After Cacciato and The Lost Continent on my tall pile of books I own but haven't read yet. I've been using my Madison library card to check out more DVDs than books, but it is something that feels permanent.

You know, as you finish up books, you could always write a review or two for my books blog -- not that I'm twisting your arm or anything ;)

Writing reviews after finishing was definitely the plan. I was thinking of doing at the very least one a month, but I would hope that I could bump that up to two!

The first few pages of The Lost Continent have been fantastic. I believe it might be the first journalistic long-form I've read since Into Thin Air, which I'm not sure that I ever finished, though I'm sure I should have.

I was actually looking for that one, but they didn't have it.

And I appreciate the vote of confidence. I think similarly of you. You should call me one of these nights. We're not so far apart anymore, you know. We could make some plans, perhaps.
