Newborn Travel Destinations

When living with a newborn
you feel constantly jet lagged

except when you wake up
you are not in Amsterdam

You begin to wonder if you will
ever go back to Amsterdam

Will you forgo such a trip for
a more family friendly destination

One with less air travel and zero
access to hallucinogenic drugs

don't limit yourself. I'm the only non-parent in my camp at that big hippie thing I go to every year, and I'm also one of the few non-child occupants that doesn't use hallucinogenic drugs.... though, the parents, being ever so kind to their children and spouses/life partners do (as far as my camp is concerned) schedule such things so that there's always someone responsible watching the child and always one parent available if the kid needs one of their actual parents... and praise whatever god that I'm never the person responsible.

it really is nice to be the "aunt". I get to relieve the parents of jungle gym duty without the kids coming home with me. I get to sleep through the fits (when I nannied, I woke up to every shift in the kids) that regularly occur outside my tent and wake up to happy kids. the kids listen to me. and I get to do story time ... oh yeah, I'm so the crazy aunt that brings plenty of kids books. did you know that the Bearenstein Bears uses words like " coincidence"?

we're being very proactive about making sure we travel with or without this kid. as the days go by we're getting less and less paranoid. I'm still not throwing him on an overseas plane ride but now having him hang with grandma for a couple days is less scary.

and I'm sure your fellow air travelers thank you for the sacrifice of being separated from him so that their time in the air is less fraught with baby cries. and making sure that you have alone time with the Lord...go you, good daddy!

You should go to North Cascades National Park and choose the campsite right next to the lighted pavilion/dish-washing/bathroom area and then, around 6pm, totally flip out and start screaming at everyone who is being too loud for your precious newborn to get a good night's sleep.
