My birthday just passed a couple of weeks ago and I'm 21 now. I guess that's a good thing. The older I get the more I'm reminded of mortality. If I have already wasted 21 years doing a bunch of shit that accounted for nothing...then however many years I have left to live will fly by. That's how it feels at least. I really need to up my dosage on ( Read more... )

Parties never seem to be what they're cracked up to be. Yet I keep convincing myself that the next one will be worth going to and it just creates a whole cycle of disappointment and awkwardness greased up with alcohol that I could just as easily be drinking in my own apartment.

I just watched Nick and Norah a week or so ago and it was one of those movies that was an ok evening but it just wasn't that good of a movie. I liked Juno but admitted that a lot of it was tailor made for a certain audience and got a little too clever for its own good. Nick and Norah seemed to be all the problems of Juno on steroids and damned if that whole "It's from a part of Judaism that I really like" wasn't a terrible line.

hahah exactly...I'd much rather just drink at my apartment and watch a movie or something. It definitely beats feeling awkward..
Soooo I watched Nick and Norah and it was pretty much what I expected. It seemed really immature...I mean, Michael Cera fingers her!!! wtf? I mean...Juno was OKAY...I almost think it was better than this movie. I just can't stand the whole..."band name dropping." It's like...I GET IT...yeh you like "indie" music!!! Juno (the character in the movie) was just waaaay too sarcastic to the point that it was annoying..ahhh...but yeh definitely aimed at a particular audience.

Yeah, all the name dropping (the first scene in Nick and Norah, the pan of his room and the records on his wall about killed me) and the overly clever dialogue gets old really fast. A lot of it just seems so contrived and writer-y. Juno got away with more of it just because it was all generally pleasant and had some genuinely charming bits. The charm in Nick and Norah was stretched thin and I ended up less forgiving.
