That was me typing in HE characters, RTL: In Hebrew here, same thing. I opened up to this just now; 06:30 and text to deliver to au by 09:30, but since we don't have our ADSL in place yet (less than 2 weeks away now!!) and it's still low-rates time, I logged on - IE likewise - and went to check what my LJFriends have been writing.
It doesn't surprise me that a HE version of the LJ Welcome page and interface exists; ijon, who brought me here, is into the development part (AFAIK) and some of his Friends have become mine - though somehow, somewhere I've heard that the majority of LJ Users located in Israel are Russophone.
Thing is, I don't read Hebrew all that fast. I probably never will. OK, it's not fun and not funny; am I gonna figure out by myself how to get MY English back, or will I be lazy and wait till someone (uh, brenk?) - because who else will read this Comment?!> tells me how
( ... )
OK, enough of זה -- I went to the FAQ (now i know how to say that in Hebrew) and found #132, How do I view LiveJournal in a different language? which includes this:
LiveJournal uses your browser settings to determine what language to display.
So now I know that there are options like {ahem!} "English" and "English, British"...
Anyway, just so you'll know I didn't weenie out of taking care of this meself! :-D
Hm. But... but... but.... why did it only change NOW? Went to my browser, and my KEYBOARD is set to French (Switzerland) and Russian. Which explains something and at least I have to key in a shortcut to change it to Russian or I expect *that* would come up.
But what the LJ geeks haven't worked out, obviously, is that there might be Brits typing on Swiss keyboards or Americans typing on Hebrew ones. Grrrrrr. I mean, it's not life-threatening for me as I can cope with French, but just irritating somehow. I'm not going to change to a UK keyboard on IE because I touch type, so I suppose I'll have to get used to "Bienvenue sur Live Journal".
