Trade-offs are such fun! daphnis September 5 2005, 07:50:01 UTC

No matter how marvellous the technology, I think communicating through the ether (as it were) is still, or perhaps particularly, subject to Murphy's Law and all its corollaries!

I have heard an unkind comment or two about Outlook Express, but can't evaluate the service from personal experience. Vinita, on the other hand, is having all sorts of problems with OEx ~ refusal to allow incoming mail, swallowing her address book, etcetera ~ and may shortly change to something (ANYthing) else. (If you added myself and Vinita together, our 'geek quotient' quite probably would not even register!)

Hugs and loving thoughts.... have you the house to yourself and the moggies?? If the battlers have gone their separate ways for a while, you might have some decent sleep and clean towels to rejoice in.

::shares frustration::

If I may make a suggestion ...

It sounds as if you do actually need to change browsers, since Netscape seems to have developed an arcane (and persistent) bug.

Using Outlook is clearly not an option. It's buggy, it has a horrible interface, and it's so full of security holes that you might as well just shoot your computer and get it over with ;-)

You could fully uninstall Netscape (remembering to note down all the relevant settings) and then re-install a new copy, which would almost certainly solve the problem. But you'd lose your settings and bookmarks, which is a royal pain in the bum.

Or -- and this makes much more sense to me -- you could install Firefox, which is a superior browser in every way ::grin:: and totally compatible with Netscape. (Being, after all, the open-source version of Netscape/Mozilla, with added security and a pretty serious lack of irritating bits ...) It will even import your Netscape settings & bookmarks -- hopefully minus the horrible glitchy part ( ... )

For Windoze mail, Thunderbird. Death before microslave girl!

Firefox and Opera are the wat to browse on Windoze. Mozilla/Netscape is ... bizarre on it as you may have detected.

Bon Chance!
