It’s a good Fit

I’ve been holding back on posting this one, because I wanted to wait until Jason had a chance to see it in person. Not sure why, just, felt like I wanted to share with him and a few others in person before I went and said it more loudly.

Nearly three years ago, I talked about our new Honda Accord. I was very excited about it at the time, and I made ( Read more... )

Really? An Accord is too big? I love land yachts. My current ride is a 2007 Grand Marquis.

I have no idea how people drive bigger cars on a regular basis. I drove a Mercury Sable for awhile and that thing felt like a huge boat, with soft brakes and unresponsive steering - it felt like I was in a driving game with a bad physics simulation, although it was, y'know, real.

Really, I think it depends on context. I've driven a Ford F-150 just fine many times, several other trucks felt okay, and our Pilot is okay - but in all of those, I was much higher up and had a better sense of space. The Accord was too much size, too low to the ground, and I could never really get comfortable in it.

When we bought our Matrix, other cars we were looking at were the Fit and Nissan Versa. We traded in my Cherokee for it, thankfully in time before petrol went up to $4.50/gal. Part of the reason for the trade was the suv having some minor issues and the fact the gas mileage being worse than I desired, even though I loved the vehicle ( ... )

I had that with our Pilot, in that at first, it felt fairly large, but I adjusted to it quickly. See my reply to 7ghent - I think it's context for me.

We'd test-driven the Matrix and we really enjoyed that too, and I could have seen us going with that, but I just fell in love with the Fit. It's such a neat little car, and I have to say, I'm immensely impressed with the amount of cargo room. The ability to flip both back seats down totally flat meant I could easily haul my full Rock Band setup without any space concerns at all. I only know that because, well, erm, I kind of had my spare set of drums and a guitar in the trunk of the Accord at the time of swap. It was kind of funny.

I would LOVE a Fit [I have an Accord now, but its a 96 so its pretty tiny]. The Fit and Mini Coopers top my list. And really, the Minis are mostly fueled by a silent wish that Jason Statham will be included.
