Finally something from the Grammys that made me happy

Normally I pay as much attention to the Grammys as I do to the Academy Awards, which is to say not at all; however I was pretty stoked when I was told that Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu" won at this past week's annual Grammys for "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)". As race we still have a lot of growing up to do. A comment from Star Trek six is very insightful.

"Let us redefine progress, to mean that just because we can do a thing, it does not necessarily follow that we must do that thing."

As I said humans have a long way to go, until we look at each other and see we are after all the same, with the same needs wants, fears, desires and put away this need to murder something or someone diffrent than ourselves then we as a species will never grow up.

Many moons ago I read an interview with a game developer who was talking to a 'Hollywood guy' about why computer games didn't get any respect. "The problem with your industry," the Hollywood guy said in that typical 'I know more than you' tone, "is that you don't have any big names! You don't have any Steven Spielbergs!" "Yes we do," the developer retorted. "His name is Sid Meier, and if you don't know that you aren't gonna do squat in this business."

This video is yet more proof of how right that guy was.
