Congress passed the health care bill that includes a public option with a vote of 220 to 215. One republican voted in favor of it. Now it has to pass the senate. We only need a majority vote, but 60 votes will ensure there is no filibuster. Do the right thing!

PS- can't believe I spelled filibuster right on the first try!

It also makes it illegal for federal or private insurance to provide money/cover associated costs of an abortion. Effectively making it illegal to get an abortion if you're poor.

Almost. It does allow federal funds for abortions that are because of rape, incest, or medically necessary. But it does prohibit federal funds for elective abortions.

So, yeah, this is really going to affect poor people the most. But the Senate doesn't even have to uphold that amendment. We'll have to see where this goes.
