I try not to fight it
As the acid chokes up my throat
Everyone knows the harder you struggle against it the further it pulls you under.
I fight it for how untimely it is.
Nightly it follows me,
Leaves me sleepless in lovers beds.
It should not
Be this hard.
It should be a time of closure
Of joy and validation.
But it isn't.
