I should be excited.  Counting today, I have two more days of work and then nearly a week's vacation.  Oddly, though, I feel a strange sense of foreboding.  I wonder why ( Read more... )

Don't worry, I also sometimes get a sense of dread as a vacation is approaching. I think I just worry that I have too much to do and not enough time to do it. Somehow, though, I get it done.

Yes, I had indeed heard of the Rio Grande before I met you. I'd heard of it long before then.

Yes, I had heard of the Rio Grande before I knew you, lol. It's often mentioned in TV Westerns and books and in history lessons :)

Your sense of foreboding could just be because you're worried you might forget to turn off the stove or other stuff like that.

Yeah, it's pretty much featured in lots of Western movies and songs about the Old West.

And that's probably what my sense of foreboding actually is. I'm one of those people who freaks out thinking about stuff like, "What if I forget deodorant or bring the wrong underwear?"

I had heard of it. But mostly I think because of mum's music and dad's westerns.
I'm sure it was mentioned in school at some point. Were they American? Because I doubt anyone over there knows about our big rivers, historically or geographically important or not.

Were they American? Because I doubt anyone over there knows about our big rivers, historically or geographically important or not. OMG! So true! When I was contemplating my move from Ohio to New Mexico, virtually ALL my online friends from other countries knew where and what both those states were. However, people in that small town in Ohio would ask shit like:

Idiot: You're moving to Mexico?
Me: No, I'm moving to New Mexico. I'm not leaving the country.
Idiot: Is that a state?
Me: Yes, yes it is. It's west of Texas and east of Arizona, south of Colorado and north of the country of Mexico.
Idiot: Do they use American dollars there?
Me: Yes. It's a state.
