Oh, yeah. I heard about this. With the same folks who brought us Freddy vs. Jason (2003) & The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003); how bad could it be? Lookie, i made a graph. As you can see Jason's been dead since '84 when Freddy hit the block. And the public was clearly ready for a proper burial. Our judgement reflected at Jason's relatively poor showing at the box office. In which field, of course, Freddy vs. Jason was a notable success (on par with 'The Final Chapter' when adjusted for inflation).

i generally agree with the remake=bad point
but...
the tcm remake was fantastic
and with those guys doing this film i gotta say im excited
the trailer looks awesome...
