HAPPYFEST IV

Yup, this is it, folks, the complete list of prompts for this year's Happyfest. The main difference this year is that we're open for art works as well as fic. Otherwise, the rules remain the same, the first of which is:

READ THE RULES BEFORE WRITING!

(there are notes about spoilers that I NEED you to read)

The rest are under here )

"They don't understand me, you know," Delirium spoke softly but with great conviction. Her face fell as she continued. "But how can they, when they don't hear the colors I do, or get all tingly when they eat a hummingbird." She cocked her head at an almost impossible angle, waiting for a reply ( ... )

This is another story where I have only passing familiarity with the fandom, but I love it anyway. Vivid and sweet.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I highly recommend any and all Neil Gaiman fic, be it comics or short stories or novels - he's just superb. It was lovely to dabble in one of his 'verses.

Oh, that's really lovely -- just the right mix of beautiful, sad and sweet.

The first time Cam really got that he was on another world was when he saw the night sky on P8X-423. When you came down to it, in the daylight all planets looked a lot alike. Forest, trees, blue sky, a sun (or maybe two if you were lucky), clouds, dust, sand, all the stuff you could get at home ( ... )

This is not my fandom and I really have no clue who the character is (I've seen, like, four episodes of the show), but this is still absolutely lovely.

Not a fandom I usually play around in but ohh very nice. You really get the newbie feel of awe from Cam. Like it's the first trip through the gate all over again.

Due South; If My Love Were in My Arms, and I in My Bed Again; Fraser/Kowalski; NC-17 spuffyduds August 18 2010, 03:11:02 UTC
This is about 930 words, which proved too much for the comment limit.

Excerpt:

Ray always hated waking up in the morning to the sound of rain. When he was a kid, it would put him in a rotten mood right away, because if it kept up all day, it would mean they couldn't go outside at recess. And he always, always got in trouble sometime during the afternoon if they didn't do outside recess; his dad said he needed to "run his crazies out." Plus when they had inside recess they played stupid quiet calm girly games like tiddlywinks and jacks. (Well, okay, Ray actually dug jacks when he was really little, and he was pretty good at it--he could get up to sevensies most of the time. But it stopped being all right for boys to like it in about third grade, so of course he stopped liking it.)
