That's funny - my border collie is the most challenging of the dogs I've had socially. I don't dare let him off leash anywhere where you can even *see* cars in motion. He doesn't hate all dogs, and is good with a lot of them, but he HATES a couple of breeds, and that tends to make things mutual. He adores people....a little too much. I suspect you have very well bred, very well socialized from puppyhood border collies, hah. Which isn't to say that I disagree with you, they're my favorite breed for a reason.

I do think having a breed that isn't bred to hunt things that naturally looks to the human for feedback is really darn helpful. And it also helps to have raised the dog from a puppy, I'll agree with that!

And how modified their herding drive is from prey drive, of course. I also should have mentioned how much I'm enjoying your frequent blogging again! It's always a nice way to start my day, dog photos and updates.
