[OOC] State of the Pups

State of the Me: As you may have already noticed from my many blathering posts on TSS, I've got a lot of school stuff going on right now. I mistakenly signed up for an accelerated version of my screenwriting class (IE, 8 weeks instead of 16), so I'm currently under the courseload of 5 classes rather than the typical 4. The good news is that this only lasts until October 15, when I will have the courseload of 3 classes.
That said, I played a LOT last month despite this, holy cow. Wallace alone had 16 threads, and Pepper had 9. I overextended myself a little bit in my eagerness to tag things there toward the end of the month, but I'm not sorry. I got a lot of really good play in and was able to tag pups I've meant to ineract with a long time and hadn't. About a year ago I became aware of how damaging it is to have an elitist attitude about RP, and I'll definitely admit that in the past I've had one. I'm so much happier now that I just try to have fun and be open to everyone. Treating RP like srs bsns is so tiring, and I honestly just don't have the energy for it.

Shari had a fairly quiet month, and I think that is mostly owing to me having so much going on that I had to prioritize. The big news is that Peter showed up from her canon, and while Cerie and I have been a bit fail in playing them together, the impact of that can't really be overstated. Shari had a crush on him before he died, and after she died, the two of them became really close over the course of Remember Me. By the end, they were on the cusp of something, although it's hard to say what exactly, given that canon in sequels says they went on into the Light and then Shari came back again, so…IDK. Can you have a "relationship" when you're in heaven? At any rate, Pete (of the Campbell variety) chose the worst possible time (aka last month) to get a move on in his flirtation with Shari, so if things go as I suspect, October will be the beginning of what will be a pretty interesting bit of plot with Shari terribly conflicted in the middle. I was thinking about her a lot last night, and it occurred to me that she still misses George terribly, which could make things more or less complicated depending on what happens. I think Sam coming back has made her more hopeful than she otherwise might be; it's taking some time, but she and Sam and building a friendship again. She can't help but secretly think George could come back and it would be the same. :/

Sirius is pretty much steady as she goes right now, which is good considering the influx of HP pups we're likely to get in the wake of movie 7. He took Cassie on a "date," but I'm not going to lie and say it wasn't terribly odd for him to think about it on those terms-First of all, he doesn't date in general, ever. Secondly, it's Cassie, who is in that strange, somewhat nebulous category he has previously only reserved for Neil; he loves her, but isn't sure he'd want to fuck things up by pursuing more than a friendship. He's absolute pants at love, barely even understands it beyond the manifestation of loyalty, and I think he knows in his heart of hearts that he is not the best person for anyone to be with. That said, he is Sirius, so he's sort of doomed to do shit he shouldn't, and he finds Cassie rather addictive. In the past, I've wondered whether Cassie wasn't a substitute for Harry in the way she prompts him to be more mature. If we get Kat's Harry, I suppose we'll see what happens.

What a crazy month it's been for poor Pepper. Surely if you're bothering to read this you already know what's been going down. Peter pretty much handed her her ass, which wasn't planned but nonetheless exactly what she needed (I was, for the record, planning on her epiphany in that respect regardless, but this just makes so much more sense). I honestly don't know what is going to happen from here. Scott has this EPIC PLOT he wants to do, but I don't know how long it's going to take him to put it together or if it will be approved. Right now, Pepper is just about sick of Tony, so he's got a fairly long row to hoe before he's in her good graces again. In typical Tony form, he fumbled her generosity rather spectacularly. These two are always difficult to predict, so IDK what might happen there. I think that if she finds out Hotch is interested in someone else, she will be ridiculously unhappy, as she does still love him a lot and only broke up with him because she felt it was unfair to him that she be so focused on Tony but still holding him to a relationship. She is just really not in a great place right now, but the good news is she's moved from emo to pissed off.

The whole mini-plot with Sean freaking out over Terry and Brad getting married was unexpected, but I enjoyed playing out the repercussions with Ruth, Melly and Rhi. I especially enjoyed the 4 pups having dinner and discussing it; this was the first time we've played all 4 together at once, and I loved it. I think we ought to do another one this month for the 4 of them to discuss the matter of Cartman, as Nate and Brad both think of the little terror as somewhat their responsibility, but obviously taking in the worst-behaved child in the history of EVER is meriting a family meeting, LOL. In other news, they haven't had many threads yet but OMG, I have so much love for Nate and Archie. I think they are going to be buddies and I just love that so much (For those of you unaware, I am a huge fan of the HH miniseries).

Ruth and I have just started on the plot for Jim, where he starts getting predictably restless and moody at being so grounded. The shiny of being with Reid and getting married has started to wear off and isn't as exciting anymore, so he's getting all wistful about not having the Enterprise or being able to leave. So, Reid is going to be dealing with that, but beyond that I really want to work on his relationship with Nicki and also get him chatting with his work colleagues more. He had a thread with Henry at the roller disco and recently a thread with Will, and while I definitely want him to have friends outside of work (Anatoly, I am looking at you), I am discovering that he's less anxious when he has the pretense of work and that already-established connection to go from.

We finally got Bones' timeloop done, and that was satisfying. Right now, literally in a thread I am working on right this moment, I have finally succeeded in shifting Spock a little closer to Uhura. He held her very purposely at arm's length for so long, but Chekov's disappearance really threw him and when that combined with Uhura being a little drunk and more open than normal, it broke a bit of that wall down. I'm eager to see how that goes, and am officially concerning him with making things with her work, whether that be as friends or something more. I'm also eager to have him thread more with Jim, as I feel like they connected well over Chekov's disappearance and these two really ought to be moving more toward BFF territory at this point.

Cal is Cal. He creates plot and interesting interaction just by being his cranky, foul-mouthed self, so I haven't felt much need to plan for him. Apparently we will soon see Aphrodite attempting to set Cal up with various people (possibly both male and female), which is going to exasperate him greatly and should be a lot of fun. Melly is bringing Caroline from The Vampire Diaries in November, and I'm looking forward to that interaction a lot, as I love Caroline and I think her personality will be a good foil for Cal's. Beyond that, he's trying to deny he gives a shit about Sarah and has actually been kind of nice to some people recently. Surely the end is nigh. He needs to meet Susan, but I can't say whether he'll like her or not-He wasn't crazy about Promise, but recognized that she was good for Niko, so we'll see. Considering the circumstances, he could get a little jealous.

I am still feeling Eugene out. I mentioned before that he was a very complex character, and I'll admit that while I love him, he gives me pause a LOT. Sometimes I really feel him and sometimes I question everything I have him do. I felt like I started super strong with him and then totally lost momentum. He feels very mundane and uninteresting a lot of the time and I really don't like that, but it's not IC for him to wig out constantly nor to be very social. I'm hoping that this plot with Snafu and Zelda helps me get more settled and sure with his voice, or he might be dropped at the end of the year. I can play him as standard Southern boy with no problems, but that isn't much fun for me and if I can't sort this out, I'd rather give his space to a character I'll enjoy more.

Holy crap, you guys. 1) I did not expect for this pup to take hold of me the way he did, and 2) I did not expect the reaction to him being IG to be so overwhelming. I'm so giddy that he gets so many threads, you have no idea. I think it'll probably be awhile before he gets any serious plot, but that's fine; Wallace is entertaining just being himself and roaming around drunkenly hitting on guys. Apparently Kon is going to try to set him up with a chick, LOL forever. Aside from that, Wallace's primary goal is to get into Kon's pants, or possibly just to get laid at all now that he's officially passed his mourning period for Mobile. Megan plans on apping Kim next month, so if she gets IG, they should make an interesting comic duo.

Lux is the only pup I have in my queue, and will be the last until I drop, which I have no inclination to do. She got pushed back because Wallace was really loud and Ruth told me I needed to reserve him immediately, but I am still really excited for her. I've been looking for a teenage girl who met my sassy criteria for about a year and had pretty much given up when I started watching Life Unexpected. Ruth has just today put in her app for Lux's father, Baze, so if that's approved, her time on the island will probably be quite a bit different from what I initially envisioned. It's all good, though, because Baze isn't much more than a child himself, and I think it could make for interesting plot. I'm really looking forward to having a teenager to play off all the great teen pups we've got on the island.
That's it, no more. Ten is the limit.
I have no concrete plans for any of mine for Halloween, so if you have any ideas, I'm all ears.
