Below the cut tag is the text of one of my recent Something Wicked blog entries. I'm trying out the post-by-mail interface for LiveJournal. Would you please take a look at it and leave a comment telling me if it displayed as my entries usually do for you, if links worked, and like that? Thank you kindly.

Yonder lies kilowords of zombie-related rumination. )

Looks OK from here.

I wonder if a different approach to a Burroughsian zombie apocalypse might involve not Romero-style ghouls tearing at the flesh of the living, but memetic zombies. Patches of nonsense detached from meaning, infecting people into being new carriers. Actually, that's close enough to how marketing and political rhetoric operate that it might take too much work to make it fantasy.

You need to see or listen to Pontypool. (It was produced deliberately as both a movie and a BBC World Service radio play.) It's right in there.

Perhaps it's not so much that the zombie plague is a cure for the word virus, but rather a competing viral strain that kills the receptors in the human body that the word virus latches onto?

An Edgar Rice Burroughsian zombie apocalypse would involve a stranded princess, and a protagonist who can wallop the tar our of zombies. :)

Well, yeah, of course. Did you ever read Philip Jose Farmer's "The Jungle Rot Kid on the Nod"? It's basically a William/Edgar Rice mashup, opening with "Goddamn Venusians have kidnapped Jane again."
