End of the week

Goodness, I'm knackered. Site visit today, and there nearly wasn't, because the key person I was meeting had a kid come up positive for Covid yesterday. We did the whole thing masked and it was hard work making sure to communicate with anxious people. But I think I'm glad we went ahead (I will feel differently if we all catch the damn thing, but it ( Read more... )

The positive tests in schools are quite worrying. I wonder if there will be long term issues for all the children who’ve had to live through Covid? The only positive is the technology isn’t it. At least (if necessary) a person can be remote and part of something.

Good luck with the 2 days on site. I was talking with friends yesterday and we were saying how much we miss the calmer full lockdown times for the quiet roads, cleaner air and empty streets …,

Yes, it's very worrying. I'm going to be testing myself a lot next week, though hopefully the people I met will keep coming up negative. With the builders situation I really, really don't want to be stuck indoors for 10 days at the moment, let alone actually be ill. A bit grim.

Indeed...

I don't know why I'd think he might not, he must have been a teen in Liverpool in the late 70s or so, which isn't exactly sheltered life. But somehow when you meet someone as a venerable professional, you make assumptions.

It just makes life so complicated, this virus.

Oh yes. All the families where the adults are vaccinated but the children are bringing it home from school and everyone is then suspect and the ripples spread out 'just in case'.

(D-d has done 19 days of LFTs in a row, every one negative, but has been working from home for those 19 days 'just in case')

I do rather wish we had the same rules tbh, though it would have meant suspending the assessment. It *should* be low risk and we were very careful all day, but it's still closer contact to a definite case than I really like. (I should say I could have cancelled myself, but didn't feel it was quite warranted, as I've no one vulnerable at home. But there are many LFTs in my future before office/parent visits.)
