Your Nonna's original garden sounds wonderful. I used to know a long, thin garden that sounds very similar. Shame to lose it, but how brilliant that she was able to help your uncle.
The 1987 storm really did do a lot of damage in the south. We lived in London at the time and it took me 3 hours to get to work because of the fallen trees across the roads and overground tube line sections.

It was such a shattering night, the storm. I didn't go to school that day as there were trees down all over the place, including street trees which were resting on the roofs of houses near me. Terrifying stuff!

It is - more interesting than questions that are more straightforward, I think!

I'm off to Bath on Monday. It won't be great weather but I am planning to read, potter, shop a bit, and do some evening events that are easier to manage than going into central London.

I think the garden would have been too much for her later anyway tbh; it was a sad decision from my childish perspective but very much needed.
