Camera help

We're considering investing in a higher-end digital camera for our trip to Africa.  I know several of you have done research on cameras as of late... any help you can give me?

I saw the camera of my dreams on saturday!!

It was a SLR, I believe the maker was Cannon. well you can get many add ons to make this fit your style but the SLR captures pictures like a 35 MM (instantly) you dont have to wait while it focuses. It is bulky like most higher end cameras are, but if you are an safari and want to capture something running you wont have to take 50 pics to get 1 good one.
My only advice with this, is purchase a big memory card, and good quality. The only I was looking at probably retailed with all its features for around 1500.00$

In the digiscrapping community there are many fabulous photoraphers and the Canon Rebel is considered the ultimate.

Here's the link to it on the Costco website...

I have a friend who has it, and he's happy with it. I think it might be the one that we get, too.

Mike just got his beloved and much coveted Digital Rebel before we went to Italy. He's been drooling over it since it came out. I bought him a book on using Digital SLR's for our anniversary. Anywho, after comparing prices EVERY WHERE, he bought from an online ebay store (legit store). He got a bunch of loot for a great price. He spent $1100 and it included: the camera, 18-55mm lens, 75-300mm lens (both canon official lenses), 2GB memory card, micro drive, lens cleaning cloth, carrying case, two UV filters and i think that's it. He thinks it was a great deal. You can see our Italy pics if you want to check out quality...also you can see the camera if you want too! :)
