I just want to say that I ♥ everything Sam does in this episode. Everyone else totally harshes on him, but I think he was in the right. Gaeta was going to jump them out of there! Someone had to stop him! And that Six just shot Barolay, for which I will hate her forever. Of course he was gonna pull a gun on her!
Athena bitching out the other 8s is probably the moment when I liked her character the most. Thank god an 8 finally shows evidence of having a brain! Hurrah! And, you know, I love me some Gaeta. But not when he's pitting himself against Kara. When he does that, he needs to get shot in the leg
( ... )
And that Six just shot Barolay, for which I will hate her forever. See, I think I'm in the minority but I LOVE that Six and she completely breaks my heart. (I had a longer and more Six-loving section of pics for that, but I didn't want this post to go on for ages.) That said, I don't fault Sam for reacting like she just murdered his best friend. It's easy to snark on him for making Kara Thrace look like the most level-headed, nonviolent person in the room TWICE, but yeah, he's not exactly in the *wrong* there or with Gaeta.
Athena bitching out the other 8s is probably the moment when I liked her character the most. ♥ I love how it mirrors the scene with the naked Eights and Boomer at the end of season one, except instead of freaking out Athena is just like OH GROW UP YOU GUYS. (I hate when she doesn't hold her sister's hand though.)
Heeee I know about the creepy/sexy WTF threesome shot.
Awww, Sammy. The thing is, even though I adore Gaeta, I can utterly forgive Sam for this. It wasn't absolutely his brightest idea, but it wasn't utterly malicious, either. (and he felt guilty. And he tried to apologize, even if he couldn't get the words out. On this show, that means a hell of a lot to be.) And Sam-Jean friendship actually pwns even Kara-Helo or Felix-Dee (well, maybe not Felix-Dee) friendship for me. I can understand his hurt and anger. It was one of those brilliant BSG moments where you really could see everyone's side.
(Plus, Kara vs. Gaeta is my favorite anti-ship ever. I LOVE it, and those two desperately needed to pull each others' hair.)
And Kara's face when she sees the comet IS the most adorable face in the universe. :)
It was one of those brilliant BSG moments where you really could see everyone's side. Yes, totally. I was a little mean to Sam in this recap (and I love him!) but I laugh so I don't cryyy.
Kara vs. Gaeta is my second favorite anti-ship, after Baltar vs. Roslin. It's VERY close.
Baltar vs. Roslin has better hate and over-the-top screaming, Kara vs. Gaeta tends to be grayer. (I'm usually on Roslin's side in those. But with Kara and Gaeta, I usually think they're both right and both wrong and so, so, SO underutilized as a anti-ship by the show.)
But Baltar vs. Roslin is sheer brilliance too. ::debates a fic where all four are locked in a room together, except the outcome is clear. For most of canon, Laura and Kara would get their shit together and the guys would be OFFED.) What fun is that?::
Oh- also! All the hand shots in the banner were awesome!
Ah....when the show was still being sooo good...:D
(See, I did like S4 for a while...*a while when it still had a chance to go in weird directions but still be awesome at the same time*...;P)
And WHY did the writers never seem to realize that everybody's "near death" experiences were of the same frakking place??? WHY??? Cause they were clueless to a brilliant potential plot reveal. Seriously...in RSptII, Lee wasn't dreaming of floating in water and drowning...when he "drowned" in that vision, he was pulled back to life where the fleet was...he was REALLY waking up in the same place that Laura's friend took her along to see the edge of before she fully passed over to that dimensional plane. ;)
Which is a good thing, since there was enough circumstantial evidence to show that Cylons like Natalie who had fully actualized personalities were able to "jump" over to that plane too...which is good news for Gaius and Caprica's ship...;)
I might sound crazy, but my craziness is always based on evidence of pre-existing crazy. :P
This is a fantastic recap! Snark + pretty pictures = WIN!
Faith is easily my favorite episode from season 4. I just love absolutely everything about it, including the fact that it breaks my heart about 5 different times.
And ITA with you about Six. As much as I LOVE Barolay, I can't really fault Six for reacting the way she did. Same goes for Sammy. Not a big fan of him shooting Gaeta but things were insane in those moments and Sammy wasn't in the best head-space to start with. Plus, he totes wins me over with his grief over Barolay's death and his complete lack of hesitation in reaching out to that 8.
