Christmas
Christmas is weird this year. Jared is working today and tomorrow, and we leave Wednesday, so we had our Christmas on Dec. 22. Surprisingly, Athena did not wrestle any presents over night, even though she loves wrapping paper. We got up early, and opened gifts from my mom and each other. Grandparents
My last grandparent is on his way out today. He was taken off all life support, so now I'm just waiting for the call. And I don't think I can make it home for the funeral because of work and the price of plane tickets. It's just awful when someone who has been around so long suddenly gets this sick and goes. I love Winter Break. My husband and I can hike and camp without having to find mountains to escape the heat -- we live in Tucson, AZ, so it's been in the 60s this week. -

Holiday Donations
I teach at a Title I school, which means we get extra funding and services because so many of the students are low-income. There's a grant for free breakfast, and we're getting a building psychologist and social worker soon. Like most schools, we have a canned food drive during the holiday season. New Job
On Thursday I start my new job. I'll finally be working full-time in the best job I could imagine. 5th graders are so fantastic to work with. And I'll have a real grown up job with a decent income.
