I would have been hysterical, but I would have been tough-ass about it, you know, to show I was not scared. It's bullshit, going to someone's house that late, trying to intimidate folks. I am glad you are so heavily armed. I don't own a gun, but you have illustrated one of the best reasons for being so.

I've always been split on guns for home defense. I feel pretty confident for my self though because I have a lot of training on them and carry one at work. I also have no kids in my household so that's a big plus.

If you ever do decide to look into it, make sure you know guns and your particular model inside and out and be able to use all the features with out looking or fumbling around. Just my two cents

Good advice - Great advice! And I agree with you, one hundred percent. If I had kids, there would be no way. I couldn't sleep at night, knowing I had kids and a gun in the house. Some folks treat guns with the respect they deserve; others just don't seem to think they are dangerous.

This guy I dated is a cop, and he invited me to a shooting range, and wanted me to learn how to handle a gun for my own protection, but I was too frightened at the time to go through with it. I should have.

It's never too late to learn. Some ranges have lessons geared towards women.

As far as the kids thing goes, it does open a lot of liability issues. However you can also get quick access gun lockers that fit in a bedside cabinet where you can hit three or four buttons in order to open the case rapidly.
