I believe they did, but they kinda danced around the topic. They didn't just come flat out and admit they were trying to manipulate Metacritic and Game Rankings, which is what Eidos essentially did. I think with MGS4 they took more of the tack that they disputed people's ratings methodology.
What bothers me is why: They're specifically saying "we don't want subpar reviews to influence people from buying our game". That's the PURPOSE of that!
I also liked how the 7/10 caused "problems" with the company that put out that review. Are you serious? What, did they get another guy fired? I also love it because to them, 7/10 is bad. If we gave a game a 7, we'd be slightly massaging it's hypothetical nuts.
