I just lost my belived MazzyStar on December 11. She was only 3 years old and was a staffordshire bull terrier/dachshund mix. My husband ans I made a stupid mistake and I don't think I'll ever forgive myself. What happened was we had all 5 of our dogs playing in the back yard. He wanted to run to the grocery store to get something for dinner. We ( Read more... )

She was absolutely beautiful, and her name seems to fit her perfectly. The twinkle in her eye.. so adorable. Glad she's not suffering. Remember, that she's always in your heart. Just because her physical body is no longer with you, her spirit is. Never let that go. :]

yes, remember that she will always live on in your heart. there was no way you could have known what was going to happen, it is NOT your fault. and mazzy wouldn't want you to feel that way...she'll watch over you and your husband always.

I'm so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen. I feel like whatever I'm going to type won't affect you, but I'm still going to try. I just want you to let you know that even if you had have brought them in, something could have happened inside. Nothing would stop a pit.
It's hard to think it's the other dogs fault, and the guilt should wear off soon when you finally come to terms that their fight was based in 'dog world', something that we can't understand. Different breeds might not get along just as us in 'human world' where not all of us get along as well and this is what happens. I feel horrible for Mazzy nevertheless just because of the pain she must have gone through. Putting down the dog that attacked her is kind of like its justice. Hopefully now they are getting along together in Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you for sending me that link. I still don't hold the other dog at fault because in my eyes, my dogs can do know wrong yet I know what took place. I'm sure they are friends again on the other side.

I think she held on just long enough to see me (and my husband) before she died. I would feel even more horrible if she had died alone. I know she wouldn't want me to be feeling sad and guilty. She was such a happy dog and nothing could bring her down. I'm sure she'd want me to remember her that way.

Thank you. I have lots of good memories of her and started making a scrapbook. I even have her puppy teeth and first collar.
