I've been interested in vampires for as long as I can remember; fascinated by them really. Never saw the Buffy movie, but when I found out that they were making a tv show based on it, I thought 'why not', so I did. Saw the premiere, and loved it. Watched until season 6, but . . . stuff happened and I stopped watching. Then got all caught up at the end. Watched the last season of Angel.

Why do I love it? Geez, that could take hours.

I was never really into vampires; I don't, still, really see Buffy as a "vampire' show. At its core it's show about the emotional lives of people, I think. The vampires are just metaphorical, really. I do, however, like Anne Rice. Are you a fan of her Vampire Chronicles? I adore Lestat.

A "friend" made a big fuss about the show encouraging devil worship or something, and at the time I was growing increasingly tired of her opinions, so when the reruns started airing on FOX in the middle of the night, I watched the pilot episode solely to be passive-aggressive, and fell in love instantly. I'm a big sci-fi/fantasy fan, so I would have gotten to it regardless at some point, and I probably would have watched it from the beginning if I had cable, or decent reception, but I was broke at the time.

I know the American Parent Union or whatever once voted Buffy as Worst Show on Television, lol.

I read a review of it in the newspaper which A-vampires, so automatically on the rader, and B-rave review that mentioned the humor, the witty dialogue, etc. And this was talking about season one! LOL I was only able to watch the show when I found myself someplace with cable, so for the first few years I was always playing catch up. Finally got the ability to watch it in real time, as well as catch up on all the episodes I'd missed. So - yes, I watched on TV from the beginning, but only intermittently until about season 4 or 5. No one had to convert me - I was onboard from the get go. Not sure what made it special (other than the aforementioned wit, humor, etc - I mean, it's a pretty amazing show), but if I were being honest, I guess I'd have to say Spike? And Buffy. Meeting Spike is what sent me searching the internet for more about him and led me to fandom where I found other like-minded people, some of whom have become RL friends. And it gave me another hobby - fanfiction. The fact that I starting writing about my favorites ( ... )

And I love your fics! Yay for fandom. :) I've fallen as hard for this show's fandom as I have for this incredible show. I've met some really great, creative, intelligent people thorugh this show, and I am so grateful for the amazing output of our fandom! We truly are the best (No matter what the Twihards, Potter Heads, or those insane SPN girls say, lol)

I was really late to the game. I first started watching Angel because it came on TNT in the mornings after Numb3rs, and sometimes I was busy so the TV just stayed on. And it's weird - even though it was only a couple of years ago, I still can't remember when or why "leaving the TV on" turned into "rabid, obsessive fan." It just happened.

Yay, another late-gamer! I didn't discover the show until 2005, when a co-worker lent it to me. I was instantly in love, 20 minutes into Welcome to the Hellmouth. I remember thinking that I'd never seen anything like Buffy, and I still and will always think it's the best show ever made. Thanks for commenting!

First, I was excited about the movie, which I went to see in the theater (and didn't think was nearly as bad as people seem to now, not great, certainly, but I'd seen much worse). Then I heard that it was going to be a series, but I had no idea when it was going to be on ( ... )

Initially watching the series on the DVDS is totally different then as it aired, agreed. I watched the entire series initally in a span of about 5 months. I was working 3 jobs at the time, and didn't have much free time, or I'd have finished it sooner. Buffy was my refuge from life. All day I looked forward to coming home and watching an episode or two before bed.
