Sweeney Review-don’t read if you want to watch for yourself!

So last night Mike and I FINALLY went to see Sweeney Todd the movie. Just for background, I've been a fan of this musical for almost 5 years and when I found out the movie was going to be made I tried to stay optimistic. I must say, certain points had me pleasantly surprised and certain things made me sad. Overall, I give the film a 4/5.

I was so impressed. I would have stayed in the theater and watched it again and maybe again after that! The young man that played Anthony was wonderful. Mind you, I have never seen the stage show so I have no comparison. Johanna reminded Sarah of the girl she saw perform as Christine in PotO in Chicago. " A Little Priest" was so funny, I think I am glad I had not seen another version. I Loved "Worst pies". And Sweeney's swimsuit made him look like a prisoner of her fantasy! His expression during the wedding... Oh My Gosh!!! Toby was perfect. I cannot even tell you how many parts jumped out at me a symbolic, for example: When Beadle closed his cane on the way to the stairs, to me it was showing that he had let his guard down and was vulnerable. I know... I get going and cannot stop :-) sorry! If you are ever up this way and would like to share your DVD's I would love to watch them.

Oh and If I loved Johnny Depp before... listening to him sing just made it complete. Especially "my Friends" and "Pretty Women"
