Character name: Data Sora
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
Timeline: Post-Castle Oblivion
Age: 15 (appearance-wise)
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
He has the same abilities as the real Sora, minus the secondary magical outfit and all the cool drives/limits...but he's still able to kick bug butt, able to harness abilities from Birth by Sleep canon like Zantetsuken. Being made of data, he can also destroy the bad ones, practically making him a walking virus de-fractioner.
How would they use their abilities?: Considering Data Sora is only made of...well, data, his abilities would be rather useful if somebody's computer became inflicted with a virus or any other dangerous programs. Sora, the Bug Exterminator to the rescue!
Appearance: He looks exactly like KHI Sora, with spiky chestnut hair and sky blue eyes; complete with a red jumpsuit, a hooded vest of sorts, fingerless gloves, those bright yellow clown shoes and his trademark crown necklace.
Background/Personality:
Let's say when one writes out a year's worth of records in a diary, only to be completely whited out with a single message left behind, it'd come off as completely illogical. Not to mention, very frustrating. It's almost as if someone out there was taunting you-- a little brother guffawing at your griping of those lost precious innermost thoughts.
"Thank, Namine."
Or maybe, they were trying to tell you something.
"Their hurting will be mended, when you return to end it."
And such a message they were trying to convey. But who this "Namine" person? Did anyone need saving at all? Thus, Jiminy Cricket confided in King Mickey to figure out the mystery, and from this venture, Data Sora was created.
He was an exact data configuration of the island-dwelling youth, complete with absolutely zero combat experience (aside from the frequent sparring matches with Riku) and that bright-eyed eagerness to explore the other worlds out there, if there they be. But that was just it. Being an exact data replica of the real Sora didn't mean, he too, could wield the real Keyblade. So after Chip and Dale had configured one also made of numbers just like himself, Mickey contacted him via audio.
There's something we have to find out, and we need your help.
{DESTINY ISLANDS} Like any good little boy, he followed the voice and ended up in his own home, Destiny Islands. The whole island was covered up to their ears in blocks, and according to Selphie, Tidus seemed to be missing. After questioning Wakka, Sora searched on until the black-hooded persona appeared before him once again, just like in his Awakening sequence. It was then he slowly started to realize the bugs weren't just an external problem, they were internal as well-- inside the spaces called datascapes. Those bugs would also cause errors in each world, and he learned the only way to fix it up, was to bash 'em. The bugs, that is.
After he had done so, the bridge was restored right back to it's usual condition. Ta-da! And there on the tiny plot of land connecting it to island was Tidus. He'd finally found his eager beaver of a friend. (Only to spar with him to beat the information out of. Why, the guy had insisted). Sora was then told the blocks had appeared right around the time the guy in the black coat had, as well. This seemed to lead to the conclusion, that mysterious person was the bad guy-- the main honcho of the army of bugs. And there he was in the Secret Place, blabbing out riddles and eventually leaving behind a Keyhole. Inside of it, was a data version of the Darkside Heartless, the one inflicting damage onto this world, and was eventually defeated by Sora's hands.
But there was a catch. Fixing up one world would sweep your feet off to the next, and this time, Sora became Dorothy and was whisked away by a "tornado," just as the real Sora had when the Destiny Islands outside of the journal was submerged into darkness.
{TRAVERSE TOWN} He wakes up after passing out from the blustery transport and meets Cid, the local mechanic looking for the three tikes-- Huey, Dewey and Louie, who had gone up and investigated the mysterious bug blocks but never came back. And as he picks them up duck by duck, he acquires a shiny piece of...whatever it was.
But that thing turned out to be pieces of the world's Keyhole, and after he pieces them together, defeats the main bug and brings the boys back to safety, another world was finally fixed.
{WONDERLAND} Everyone in this world lost a piece of their memory, dear Alice even more so considering she has loads of curious information to lose. Thus, Sora ventures off to find these items called Inklings, which would gain back everyone's memory considering he gave it to the right person.
Then the hooded guy appeared yet again, and Sora chases after him, only to find himself in the King's castle, and meeting the real Mickey and co. But when the mysterious guy he followed previously reveals himself to actually be the digitized version of Riku, or more accurately, the Journal itself, they all learn more about the happenings inside the book. Riku had imported the lot of them inside the datascape in order the protect the contents inside; he really needed their help. Though Sora didn't exactly understand the fine details, he did know this. If he bashed all the bugs, then his friends could go back home.
{OLYMPUS COLISEUM} Hercules was stuck in the Coliseum (now, maze) and after proving his prowess to Phil by destroying the blocks which blocked the entry way, he promised to the old goat he'd go find the champ. And when he finally did, the two worked together splendidly, bashing their way through each level. Though they had a minor tiff with the lone Cloud, he too, joined their group in order to find a way back outside.
(Depending on how many levels the player chooses: 5, 15, 30; the three of them realize some of the monsters they defeat wasn't actually the main bug causing the whole mess and finally makes it out after finishing all the levels).
On the outside, Sora happens to run into Pete as he claims he got into the datascape just like Mickey did, along with Maleficent who had hacked into the system with her dark god-modding powers, and they express their desires to rule the worlds submerged in darkness right through their very own portable Journal.
{AGRABAH} Here he meets Aladdin, who wishes to help out Jasmine any way he could. But when Jafar tries to bend her to his desires, Sora drops in and takes her back to meet his new-found friend. But Pete had given their enemy a forgery of the lamp, and after making a wish, stopped all time in the city, except for Sora himself. But realizing this wouldn't last for long, Sora follows Jafar to the Cave of Wonders and seals him in his own lamp.
Afterwords, he bumps into Maleficent, who breaks his data Keyblade, calling on it to be fake. Though Riku and Mickey save him in time, he could't help but feel helpless.
{HOLLOW BASTION} And that feeling lingers on, when he knows he can't bash the bugs any longer. But Riku had been kidnapped by Maleficent and Pete, so he sneaked into the castle hoping to at least bring him out of there. Though without the Keyblade, the going got tough, even when Donald and Goofy arrived to help him out (just like the old times).
In the end, realizing he wanted to save his friends, he gained the real Keyblade through the power of Heart and defeated Pete, who later sicced his own best friend on him corrupted with bugs. After Riku falls, Sora wonders what to do, then finally decides to go inside him and debug his internals so his friend would wake up. He lost all of his abilities at first, but slowly gained them back world through world, until the Journal was finally fixed.
Then, he fought Maleficent's dragon form and eventually, his own digitized version Heartless--finally completing the Journal's restoration. But he learned through Riku he would lose all his memories of his journey with everyone, and accepted his fate as he bid Mickey farewell.
{CASTLE OBLIVION} Psyche! His journey wasn't over yet, after all! (Nehe, stupid Trollmura). So Mickey embarks into the Journal one more time to see Sora, who was reverted back to his old state. Data Riku (whom still retains his memories) revealed there was an extra world unlocked when everything was fixed, and it seemed it was meant for Sora to go there.
And so he did, and there he met a mysterious figure. Said mysterious, and hooded figure was also kind of a douche. He kept taunting and taunting Sora, stabbing at his mental weaknesses, telling him it would be better off for him to forget about the people he didn't even remember. But no matter how painful, they were still a reminder of those who were his friends, and decided to keep them. It was then he also merges with the ??? and shares his pain and sorrows.
But there was more to it than that. And is told so by Data Namine, who reveals Sora actually holds all of the memories connected to him, but it would've been fatal to awaken them if he was not ready for it, thus, it is said the journey through the journal was filled with more purpose than just bashing viral bugs. She was also not original data, just someone created to convey a message and before she leaves, Sora thanks her, just as written in the Journal.

He bears the same upbeat personality as the real Sora, willing to help out even a mere voice to a owner he could not even see and basically everyone whom he meets and needs a hand. There's also the eagerness to experience new beginnings, new worlds, and that thirst for adventure becomes satisfied more and more as he journeys on to debug the Journal.
But he knows when to play it safe, distinctively telling the three duck triplets to go on straight towards Cid, acting almost like an older brother persona towards them. Everyone he's met had so far been courteous, and he will definitely treat them the same way he'd himself want to be treated. Even if a person like Cloud wanted to be alone, it just wouldn't be right to let it stay that way (even if the guy did act like a jerk). And at the same time, he can also figure into the younger brother persona, considering his lack of experience for the outside world, looking up to people like Hercules and taking in their advice for future use.
"When a friend needs me to be there, I'll be there--to help!"
Friends before himself. It becomes quite a constant motto in the series, despite the fact that he learns later on he's not actually real, just a replica of a real person. Meaning, he doesn't have a heart either. And people like Pete can make jabs at this fact, knowing full well it can get to him. And like the real Sora, his friends are his power, and with the help of Donald and Goofy, he realizes friends will always be by his side, and vice versa.

Have you read up on how the game works?: There's that plug-in called the Flaming Ferret which can be used to communicate with others. On the Thor, people can either choose the jobs listed to earn money and/or through any other means to gain said money, or be a lazy bum.

He saw them, and they saw him back. They waved with a cheerful air of familiarity, one smile reminding him of the waves splashing upon the shore back home, and the other with an almost smug look on his face--his usual happy expression--like the tall and sturdy palm trees implanted in the dirt. But this world wasn't their world, that quiet tropical get-away (more like stay-in) where sparring matches and sky watching were frequent day-by-day activities for them. Oh yeah, and the raft building, too. Which they never got to finish, Sora mentally added. He wondered if they ever finished it together, if the measly contraption ever worked out for them. Traveling to other worlds were all they ever dreamed about, after all. What about...
A single enlarged finger tapped the glassed screen, causing him to twitch and blink his eyes. Riku's smug grin grew ever so wide as Kairi amusingly peered into the Guide. "Was not," he found himself protesting, as his hand cut through data particles. "I'm not sleepy at all, you two need to both give me a break."
The girl laughed. Then Sora, and the other following after. Same feeling, same laugh, same good old Riku and Kairi. But he didn't miss the way Kairi's eyes wavered before they all started laughing in synchronicity. Was it something he said? And as the other two looked back at each other, Sora once again drifted off into deep thought.
He could see Kairi writing with determined fervor at homework assigned from school. Or the times Riku would spend watching other people through numerous feeds through the Guide. Through the dataspace, he could see it all. He can see them anytime he wanted.
But he could not touch.
No elbowing his best friend when he taps the screen, or even give a simple hug. Even if Kairi cooked something up, Sora wouldn't be able to eat it. But most of all, if any of them needed help when they needed it the most, he couldn't be there for them. He was stuck in his own data world, unable to lend a hand when he should. The other him could though, the real him.
Sora quietly sighed and glanced back up at his friends. They were the real thing, too, but that didn't mean they couldn't be his friends. And he was their's. But he couldn't do a lot of things, or anything for them if he was stuck in the communication device like a lost document. This feeling again... It was just like when he lost his fake Keyblade. Like when he got himself into a lot of pinches at Hollow Bastion and Donald and Goofy had to go save him.
Donald. And Goofy. That's right, those two were always there for him. Even though he didn't know them all that well, Sora felt he always had. Somewhere underneath the masses of binary, he did. And he almost laughed out loud, as his eyes did that tricky thing where Kairi became the goofy dog and Riku the grumpy duck. The latter raised his eyebrow at him and poked the screen again, only this time, with numerous jabs.
"Hey, cut it out!" Sora raised a fist at his friend. "Well, as a matter of fact...you guys are. Yeah, that's right. I find you guys funny." He chuckled some more and positioned himself in his usual lax pose with his hands entwined behind his head. And when a light bulb was brightly lit above his head, his smile grew more mischievous.
"Hey, Riku... When are you gonna wake up tomorrow?" Another jab. Sora looks away from him as he grins back at Kairi, almost as if letting her know he was up to something good. "Oh, no reason," he replied. "I was just asking."
He was made of data, of zero's and one's. But that didn't mean he wasn't actually there, his two other friends, and Mickey, taught him that. As long as he could be there for his friends, nothing else mattered. And as long as he was made of data, he could fashion himself to be Riku's alarm clock.
Questions?: Since Data Sora will most likely live in the Guide, when he first arrives, would it be plausible if the devices started to malfunction temporarily? Like, let's say... any texting at that moment translates into binary, or the audio doesn't work.
