the one thing that i only just picked up on from the budget is the fact that theres soon to be a means test on solar power unit rebates. Households earning more than $100,000 a year will miss out on an $8,000 rebate.. so much for Power and the Passion

Really? I hadn't heard that. I think if they're looking at spending cuts, there are far more lurks out there for rich people than solar power rebates.

I really hope that people don't get suckered in by a excise cut. It sounds so good, but it would break so many things. Our dependance on oil is a burden that becomes heavier every year. A once off rise won't fix anything long term. It would be madness to actually follow through with a proposal like this. Promising to remove the tax is a filthy lie, and the very idea of it makes me angry.

It makes me very angry too. I'm glad we agree on it.

The beauty of the position taken by Turnbull-by-proxy (my new title for Nelson), is that they can make all these crazy promises, because there is no way they're getting in a position of any type of power for at least 10 years.

Is this why the last budget could have been written by Costello?

Let's be honest, the last election was lost on the personality war between howard and Rudd. People got sick of howard and his mug and voted him off.

Esentially the Rudd government has remained on the same tracks as the howard one was, apart from some symbolic gestures.

Where is the rollback of workchoices?

Where are are out greenhouse gas emission targets?

The Labor party was elected with these two tennants of faith and have pretty well ignored both.

As far as I was aware, the rollback of Workchoices was tabled by Gillard last month, and is being stalled in the Senate by the Coallition, until the finally lose power next month ( ... )
