Character
Name: Aya Shameimaru
Canon: Touhou Project
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Role: Student (10th grade)

Background (AU):
Aya was born out in the countryside south of Alpheios, to a family that's maintained a local temple for generations. All signs pointed to the new member of the family following in the same tradition, until middle school. It's not unusual for girls around that age to develop an interest in trashy celebrity gossip magazines, but the difference here was that Aya's interest laid less in the stories themselves, and more in the people who wrote them. She was captivated by the kind of power over people one could apparently have just by writing about things. Having little interest in religion, Aya saw a new path before her.

Things took a turn for the complicated near the end of ninth grade. During a run of the hundred meter dash, Aya Awakened. She didn't even notice it had happened until she found out that she had just set the school speed record by an order of magnitude. There was a lot of commotion and a bit of chaos, but ultimately the run was invalidated, and everyone did their best to go on as if the phenomenon had never happened. Everyone, that is, except for Aya.

Aya did not keep quiet about her newfound abilities. She told her friends, she told her parents, word spread. Eventually, the right people noticed, and a few days after the end of the school year, Aya receieved an invitation to enroll in the prestigious Sophia Academy. Her parents, hoping that the renowned school would beat some ethics and sense of duty into their daughter, made the necessary arrangements, and Aya headed north to start her new school life. Unfortunately for the hopes of her family, though, what she found was a school that needed a newspaper...

Personality:
Aya is cheerful, enthusiastic, nosy, and more than a little mischevious. She loves her job, and would do it even if she didn't get paid for it (which is good, because she doesn't). She loves to stick her nose in other people's business, which can make her a little unpopular with certain people, and very popular with others, especially those who like to talk about themselves. When pursuing a story, there is little that Aya won't do. Normally, her natural charisma is enough to draw a lead out of someone, but if that won't work, she's perfectly capable of using stealth or trickery to get what she wants. If that doesn't work, she's not above stooping to physical violence, especially if somebody gets in her way.

In conversation, Aya is very friendly and upbeat, most of the time. She's capable of changing her disposition on the fly based on who she's talking to, usually becoming much more formal and polite if she's bothering someone for a lead or an interview. However, sometimes she'll get a bit excited or carried away and her facade will start to gradually drop, and she'll slide back into being straightforward and blunt.

In writing, "accuracy" is not among Aya's particularly valued virtues. She will often deliberately bend or sensationalize the facts, putting elaborate spins on the actual information she got in order to make a story more exciting than it really is. In extreme cases, she'll go out of her way to create news, causing trouble one moment and reporting on it the next.

Aya thinks very highly of herself. While she is rather strong and smart, her perception of the Bunbunmaru News is somewhat higher than that of the general public. This is a point of contention that will often sidetrack her in interviews, as she angrily defends her newspaper against criticism from the people she's interviewing for it.

Aya doesn't like fighting. Well, okay, she doesn't claim to like it, but circumstantial evidence suggests that she actually does. She picks fights a lot, especially while she's on the job. While she starts a lot of fights, however, she seldom takes them seriously and seldom ends them properly, pretending to lose on accident or leaving before the conclusion. Whenever possible, Aya avoids getting into a fight unless she can stand to profit even from defeat.

Moira's Gift: Super speed.

Other Abilities: Pretty good photographer.

Archon
Name: Musou Fuujin ("Peerless Wind God")

Appearance: Sleek, sharp form, all straight lines and hard angles. Black, white, and red, clearly an aerial design; wings extend from the back and the legs taper off into sharp points instead of feet. About ten meters tall. An short blade rests along the left wrist, and can unfold to face forward from the hand as a short sword. In Secondary Form, it's much more organic in appearance; Wind God and Girl become one, and the result is very similar in appearance to normal Aya. The primary differences are a yellow fan in the shape of a stylized maple leaf, a long, ornate scarf, and a pair of black feathered wings.

Primary Attacks: The blade on the wrist is the primary weapon, although its tapered legs can be used for bladed kicks as well. In Fuujin's secondary form, the primary weapon is the fan - it's hard as steel, bladed at the edge, and has further powers detailed below.

Special Ability: Musou Fuujin is rather lightly armored, but has exceptional aerial maneuverability. Its true power, though, is reflected by its name - it can control the wind. Localized windstorms are only a basic expression of this ability; Fuujin can call down small but fierce tornadoes in the airspace around it, either to strike at targets directly or in larger gales surrounding the Archon itself as a defensive technique.

In secondary form, all of Musou Fuujin's strengths and weaknesses are exaggerated. The combined form is barely more armored than Aya is normally, meaning that a single hit could spell disaster. However, speed borders on the ludicrous in this form, making her next to impossible to lay a finger on. The scarf that is part of Fuujin's fused form can be burned off a few inches at a time in order to accelerate even further when necessary, bordering on short-range teleportation - but when the scarf is fully used up, Fuujin is forced to revert back to its primary form. In addition to Fuujin's normal tornado strikes, Aya can also use the fan to fire tornadoes outwards towards enemies like beams.

Notes/Etc:
As of her intro, Aya will be capable of summoning her Archon, but not aware of its secondary form.
