Well, I disagree with that feeling - you are being a great mom, putting the important stuff first. Health and development first!

Want to do the party 2nd Saturday of Jan? I volunteer my house, or we'll come to yours...

You are NOT a shitty Mom. A shitty Mom would not be taking care of her baby and her ears. You are taking wonderful care of Helena!

This could be an excuse to celebrate 1+1/2 years old .....June 14th might be a nice time of year for a party!

You are a great mom, and getting tubes in Helena's ears is the best thing for her right now. She won't even remember her birthday party being on a different day. I'm here for you guys, and if you need any help just let me know.

Poor things - both of you! As everyone else has said, you're definitely not a shitty mom, even though I know nothing we say will make you feel otherwise. At least you caught it now instead of in a couple of years, after permanent damage had been done. She's almost certain to bounce back at this point, especially with the treatment plan you have. As for the birthday thing, you're right; she won't know any different. And even if you have to work, you can still give her some cake on her special day. Hang in there!

One of my sisters had to have tubes in her ears when she was little. She's still partially deaf in one ear and had to have a speech therapist in elementary school. I hope Helena is okay. :(

You aren't a bad mom...
