Oh look, my unpopular shipping preferences have finally reared their ugly heads.

This whole thing has probably been building since Turbulence really and I probably shouldn't pretend I don't have a bit of a shippy agenda here, but I've tried to remain as objective as possible, and I still see issues which I think needed expressing, so here goes.

in which I rant about the love triangle which is currently wrecking havoc on smallville. spoilers for 8x18. )

do i need to cut a bitch?, ship: jimmy/chloe, do not want, i'm an insane fangirl, wtf, !public post, fandom: meta, !fandom: smallville, fandom: shipping

This is a fine rant. If I wasn't soo tired right now I'd add to it - but basically I'm really frustrated with the way they're writing Chloe around Davis. It feels very forced and I keep wondering what sort of hold Davis must have over Chloe that she's completely blind (or rather she was ) to the things he's done. (And now that she knows she's ... WHAT?? SHE KNOWS HE's A MURDERER AND SHE ... WHAT??? AHHHHHHHH) If we're supposed to be watching some sort of official 'Fall of Chloe Sullivan' I don't think they're doing a good job conveying what the motivations are. Maybe it will all come out in the Season Finale but for now I'm really disappointed. (Besides I've always liked Chloe ... and lately I'm not really liking her and I don't like not liking her!

(If that makes sense??? I'm really tired so I'm not sure if I'm making any sense ... LOL))

I hope it all comes together in the finale, because right now, based on what we've seen and read as far as spoilers, I haven't been this disappointed with Chloe since she betrayed Clark to Lionel at the end of S2. (Yeah, I just compared those two situations. So there.)

this whole thing seems to me to be yet another example of unnecessary drama and character manipulation from Smallville

my point exactly. sort of. yeah.

chloom doesnt bother me like it bothers you. obviously.

but im very angry with the way the writers seem to be manipulating the characters. especially jimmy. it just isnt right. plus, i hate that they tore down a marriage so quickly. it kind of disgusts me.

It never used to both me that much until they started tearing apart characters to make it work. I mean, they were never something I shipped but I tended to exaggerate my dislike of them when I talked about it. Now, I'm not exaggerating.

As usual from the SV PTB: piss-poor prior planning.

I'm not sure the lack of planning has as much to do with it as just a bad concept to begin with. :/

You are not the only one who feels this way! I created a macro (with chickadilly's prompt) to show my displeasure.

Oh good. Sometimes I feel like the only Chlimmy fan in the world. D:

You know something? I totally don't think the writers are making Jimmy look bad. I wouldn't blame him for anything that's happened post-"Turbulence". Yes, the hate mails are a little pathetic, but whatever. I can deal with it. If anything, they're making look Chloe look insane, and that's what is saddening me terribly. I can't watch her character go down the drain like this.

It became very clear to me during Eternal why PS3 broke Chlimmy up. They needed to make way for Chloom, which they knew they wanted to peruse towards the end of the season. Well, fuck that. Seriously. They broke up a ship which had been together for three seasons, WHO HAD JUST GOTTEN MARRIED (I keep emphasizing this because SERIOUSLY MARRIAGE ISN'T SOMETHING PEOPLE ENTER INTO LIGHTLY AND/OR FLIPPANTLY) so that they could pair their leading lady with the character who is famous for killing her best friend and generally causing mass destruction and being a supervillian. That's what just happened.THANK YOU. I AGREE 100%. You don't do that, SV. You don't break up a ( ... )

I think it depends on how you look at it. I think Jimmy turning into a pill-popping hate e-mail sending scorned lover is making him look horrible, but mostly I just felt like he completely overreacted to what went down in Turbulence. Like the writers were looking for a reason to break up this previously stable couple for the sake of some drama, actually. :/

It's interesting that you'd compare them to Bizarro/Lana because I don't actually see the resemblance at all, but I totally agree with your main point anyway.
