Aleida, who always awoke bright and early, did happen to be in her dorm. She had chemistry and statistics later that day and she had been meaning to brush up on both of them, so she sat at her desk, flipping through pages and pages of textbooks. It was then that she heard a knock on the door. Looking up, she eyed the door quizically, wondering if she was just hearing things (anything did seem possible at this school, so she wouldn't put it past the door to the knocking itself ( ... )

It wasn't long before the other girl answered the door, and suddenly Phoebe felt a bit awkward. She could understand the guarded look on Aleida's face, she supposed it must be a little weird to open the door and find someone you met just once passing-by there. Her nerve shook a little; Aleida didn't seem like she wanted anyone there... but then Phoebe readjusted herself, and put on her friendliest smile. Besides, some of the people at Xavier's were... well, to put it simply, jerks, and she didn't want them to get to the new girl first ( ... )

Though Aleida did not know it, she was nearly chasing away a potential friend with her sour expression. What Phoebe didn't know was that Aleida was always like this; though being called away from her studies perhaps made her even less amused. Aleida cocked her head to the side, eyeing Phoebe carefully as she waited for an answer. These students here sure were outgoing. Her usual sneer was enough to chase everyone off at her high school; falling into some one's lap would've branded her a loser for life and the only reason someone would've been at her door was to taunt her because of it.

However, clearly taunting was not on Phoebe's agenda. She introduced herself, again, and Aleida nodded slowly (perhaps a bit condescendingly) her eyebrows furrowed as she was growing a bit confused. Had this girl come to her door to reintroduce herself? That was a bit much - Aleida was not that interesting that someone would go so far out of their just to make sure that she knew them ( ... )

Oh, Phoebe wouldn't have been chased off! Maybe a bit daunted, maybe her resolve weakened a little, but she wouldn't have given up. That was one thing about Phoebe - once she sets her mind to something, it gets done, even if it doesn't get done very well. If Aleida had tried to explain why she was like that all the time, it was likely that Phoebe wouldn't have understood. Was she never happy? How horrible! (Which naturally would have made Phoebe want to get her to smile once in a while.) Including the studies part; Phoebe herself was constantly looking for ways to do something other than her homework ( ... )
