Shift generally avoided the stupid student lounges. He considered them to be the worst place to be when you wanted to avoid people. But, he did find they served their purposes at times. For example, whenever you needed information about was was going on in the school, the student lounges were the first places that Shift would scope out.

He casually walked in and sat down across from Kase. He eyed her, knowing what her powers were. His thoughts were loud and clear.

Hello, Traitor. Tired of being a lapdog to everyone else?

He smiled softly at her. An innocent passerby wouldn't suspect anything. They'd have no way of knowing that he intended to have a little fun with the telepath.

Oh, the possibilites!

Just as she was reaching ten, in waltzed that dreadful Landon boy and she groaned silently to herself. She didn't bother to look directly at him yet, figuring he was going to bother her any second now, so it wasn't like she needed to bother being polite and say 'hello' to the jerk.

And there it was. Oh, he was trying to be cute and insult her silently. She rolled her eyes, "I'm not anyone's lapdog, not that you care. And I'm not the traitor around here." She looked up and tilted her head at him, then she laughed, "Oh, fun, is it? Wow, you're so lame," she rolled her eyes, "It's not like it bothers me. Your opinion isn't exactly high on my list."

This guy was someone who made her life a pain, sure, but she wasn't scared of him. She was always on the same step as him, so it wasn't like he could surprise her. And he certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to actually attack her inside Xavier's. His lame attempts at mind games never really bothered her all that much. And there were far scarier mutants around than the likes of him.

Shift didn't even care that she didn't acknowledge him. It wasn't important, just like she wasn't important. He just sat down and waited for the blow. He did, however, raise his head and nod at her. Just in case one of the bloody teachers came in and ruined the moment, he couldn't get caught with anything.

He snorted outloud. "Oh please, everyone knows that you would be nothing if it weren't for that blonde bimbo and that sissy boy. You follow them around and wish you were like them. Everyone knows it. Wassa matter, your powers not...good enough? I think they are wasted on you, to be honest." He lowered his eyes and said quietly. "You will though, soon enough."

No, he wouldn't be stupid enough to attack her in Xavier's. Shift wasn't a complete idiot. He knew there would be time enough for that when he left the place in a few months. He could wait. Patience was the name of the game.

Kase stared at him as he insulted her best friends, and also tried to imply she wasn't good enough. The words might have stung if they had come from someone who actually mattered to her, but she'd learned that Landon Masters wasn't someone she should waste hurt feelings on. He made a point of making everyone feel terrible, and Kase didn't want to give him the satisfaction ( ... )
