I had a hamster that died when I came home from school. I had remembered to feed it and found him hard and stiff and cozy under his sawdust, alfalfa by his side. I laughed about that too. It was just so still and the situation seemed so small. Maybe that's what was funny.
Every animal I've ever had was eaten by coyotes or, in the case of my sheltie-corgy, spewed bile through rotten teeth for three years before the vet bills added up to well over a year's tuition.

i think dying is not nearly so bad as living as a ruin. and furthermore is just another thing that happens. and i've always found it hard to be upset about death. i just don't know.
