Any recommendations for me?

I've recently gone up a cup size or so and I'm having an even harder time finding bras which fit because now not even the specialty shops near me stock my size. I've tried online shops, but I'm getting tired of sending half a dozen bras back and forth several times without finding anything that fits ( Read more... )

i originally got it in a 36HH and after wearing decided to go down to 34 and it was available in the J, outside of custom it's the best i've found for my shape (broad, full top, no bridge)

I'm a big fan of Fantasie - I like the smoothing balcony bra, but they've got a handful of similar styles. This one seems to go past G. The straps are adjustable to be short enough to fit my short shoulders (not sure if that's an issue for you) and the wires don't poke me in the sides. I know the description says "moulded" - alas, they use that word even for their non-moulded styles. I don't know why. (Maybe because the fabric is not so stretchy? I really don't get it. They do make at least one with what I think of as a moulded cup, but the ones I get are not moulded but continue to say they are.)

Good luck!

darthfox: I do have a fairly short torso, although generally I don't run into problems shortening the straps. I suspect that's why I have armpit poking issues. From the picture it's hard to tell if that one is actually molded, or if it is just a sheer fabric...but it does describe it as unpadded.

synj_munki: I've never heard of that brand, but that first site already started to win me over by depicting a model who actually looks like she is wearing one of the larger cup sizes (I hate it when sites only show models wearing the C-cup size and don't show what the larger cups look like).

Thanks for the suggestions!

First, you need to know that 80H (EU) is not the same as 36H (UK). Theoretically 80H (EU) is 36 FF (UK). See the size conversion chart here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cupumrechnung_en.png... )

Your reply is extremely detailed and much appreciated. How can I go about discovering (a) what my breast shape is (I've tried looking at those charts in the past, and never really been able to envision my breast shape in any of the drawings) and (b) what breast shape a bra is designed for ( ... )

Oh, and from what I recall the Freya Rio did appear to fit (no overspill on the top) when I pressed the wire against my breastbone, so it was probably a warping issue rather than a cup-size issue, like you suggested.

You are right that Panache underwires run higher than average. They also got shallow cups, which can cause breast tissue to form a bulge under the arms. This bulge then sometimes causes the wire to poke, especially if the wire sits partially on top of the bulge. Moving your arms and upper body around will make the bulge move, become larger and smaller and this causes the wire to move and rub and poke. I had real problems with Panache bras at the start for exactly this reason, it is only after wearing correctly fitted bras for over a year that I find Panache reasonably comfortable. Wearing correctly fitted bras in 40H (UK) has caused my breast tissue to migrate from my back where it used to sit after 15 years stuck in 44 DD's to the front where it should be. Now that bulge no longer forms even when I wear Panache bras because the tissue has migrated away from there ( ... )
