Ahhh... Last year of high school.
I'm in the 12th grade. I've been driving by myself for over a year now. I'm old enough to join the armed forces and donate blood. In about 7.5 months, I'll be old enough to vote.
Yet, still, I have to wait till "car riders" are dismissed to DRIVE myself home or to my job

Beginning with the fact that you've lived in Rutherford County for a long time. College is a growing time, a time for new experiences! MTSU, because it is so close to your home, will fail to challenge you and teach you the things that college does that aren't in the cirriculum -
How do you start a new life from scratch?
How do you fit into an unfaniliar environment?
How do you learn about a local culture?
These are just a few things you learn your first year of college. And MTSU won't teach you those things.

Anyway, yeah. MTSU would be cheaper as you'd still have the supportive family all around to go hit up when money gets tight for meals and housing and such, but its good to not have that too. As has already been pointed out, learning a new area is a good thing. You'll learn far more about yourself, let alone the other skills, than by staying "home."

College has it's own bullshit though, like how I'm having to take out a private $8,000 for the first quarter because SCAD fucked my paperwork up and waited too long to tell me. Just watch yourself wherever you go mkay?

I don't know about sweatpants. I know teachers, even non-gym coaches, can't wear them anymore. and shorts if they are cut lower than your fingertips when your arms are held flat against your side.
No one has eliminated flip flops yet, but it has been running around the rumor mill.
Untied shoes? I've never seen anyone get yelled at for it.
Sleevless shirts are a no.
I'm sorry your dress code sucked as bad, and possibly even a bit worse than ours does.
