We need to buy a new vaccum for the office and for home.  I've been pining over a Dyson but have no idea which model is best.  Anybody have one that would like to share good and bad?

Thanks!

Oh, we LOVE our Dyson. In fact, we love it so much that we joke we should receive some kind of commission for how frequently we wax poetic about its awesomeness to our friends. We have the Animal, which is great because we are both allergic to our cat. If you're not planning on adding any pets to the family, though, I'm sure one of the regular versions would be great for you.

My fave story is how the day we got it, we pulled it out of the box and gave it a whirl in our living room on approx. 3 square feet of carpet (that had just been vaccumed the day before with my parents' very nice Electrolux)...we filled up almost the entire cannister on just that little piece of carpet. It definitely sucks up all kinds of crap that a normal vacuum doesn't touch...and if you really want to freak yourself out, use it on your mattress...ugh!!

Good question - we have been wondering the same thing about the Dyson. I want one too!

Do you really notice a huge difference between the Dyson vs. a regular vacuum?

And Charlotte, since you know all about my little (and fluffy) Roary does it help will all the cat hair??

Absolutely...like I said, we tried our Dyson out for the first time just a day after we had vacuumed the place with my parents' Electrolux (which is a pretty nice vacuum)...and we sucked up almost an entire canister-full that the other one had left behind, just on a few feet of carpet. It was incredible! And it is wonderful with the cat hair...he sheds SO much, but the Dyson helps us keep it under control enough to invite guests into our home.

I have the purple animal hair one, which is probably not the one you would get (you don't have any pets, right?) but I did want to pipe and say it is worth every penny!! I love it!!!

I also have the handheld dustbuster type one which I don't use as often but I love it too.

Wait until you get one of those 20% off coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond and buy it then. It's a huge savings.

I don't have one - so I have no real advice... but I want one!!! You'll have to tell us how you like it if you do go that direction.

I have the Animal- and love it! I love how easy the attachments are to pop off and on. I'll do the floors- then pop off the wand (I call it a wand 'cuz it is magic! :) ) to do the baseboards and ceiling fan.

You've seen pics of Chewy, right? So you know any vaccuum endorsement from me is bound to be worth it... especially if you don't have pets ( ... )
