It's not meant to be trite but just as finding a job can be more work than the job itself, so too it may be that getting accepted into NABET, or finding work in the film and television technician field will be more work than the work itself. Is there some way of finding someone else in NABET who you could become a protege to so you could get some kind of practical experience as such and so get a bit of a leg up?

I've got no real advice... valgarth June 19 2008, 12:35:03 UTC
...but if you think you're tired now, wait until you've bee trapped in a dead end, boring-assed, go-nowhere office job for twenty years. Wait until, at 45 or so you start saying things to kids like "I used to be pretty hip, you know" and then wondering what happened to the fun Noemi that you used to be. Imagine how exhausted that will make you.

Take a break. Go do something else for a while, sure. Change gears, try something new, whatever it takes to give the fire a chance to burn bright again. But don't quit. It ain't over 'till you say it is. Remember that.

Ok, so I did have some advice.

ok, lemme give it to you straight from the weasels mouth.

never be complete, never stop fighting and for god sakes do what you want to do.

It took me 9 years to get into the job i wanted, and between that ive done everything from clean toilets to throwing raves.

sure, i have a cushy day job now. but 4 years ago i was starving.

but I never gave up, I never made excuses, I allways had a plan.

besides hun, compared to the rest of us at your age, your leap years ahead of the game.

Optimism isn't key, being pig headed stubborn is.

Take a week off decompress and then get back at it, you'll not be happy unless you do.

Besides tfx has a good offer there, IATSE is the larger of the two last time I looked.
