The wedding planner

Mar 15, 2006 17:58

It's been 2 months since J said "yes" and what a surreal 2 months it has been planning for the wedding which, incidentally, is more than a year away! J's all psyched up and excited of coz (which is really great!), but methinks she's way ahead of the gorilla right now! For one, she seems to instinctively know so much about weddings that it's kinda ( Read more... )

Woah, thanks for the Vera Wang warning!!! I just checked out their website ... wow, their bridal gowns ARE stunning! No wonder J luuurves (sic) them! Damn, I can believe they must be EXPENSIVE! Erm, do they even have shops in S'pore? Hmmm, I bet there are bridal shops out there with Vera Wang lookalikes. :)

What? Gals start dreaming of weddings at age 5?! Man, that's scary! Gosh, at that age I was crashing toy cars into furnitures and walls ... and terrorising the gals in playschool. Heh!

Ooi, don't tell me burbur dreamt of weddings at a young age too? :O

Friend of mine got married in a Vera Wang. She's rich, so. *shrug* I gotta say, the gowns are a little overblown for me. But then I haven't been planning any wedding since I was 5, so. (Yeah, I don't get it either.)

Saw some really ostentatious one at their website ... but then there are also the simple, elegant gowns that are quite stunning. There's one with the plunging neckline that's really sexaaaaay! :P~

Phew! I was beginning to think all gals dream of weddings even before they attend playschool! Seriously though, at what age do gals start dreaming of such things? Heh, I can safely bet that most guys spend less than a split second dreaming about weddings prior to their engagement or marriage. Um, it's just not something we think about y'know.

My husband and I had a civil ceremony which fewer than 10 people attended then a Chinese dinner for 20. It was great. No major hooha.

20 guests for a Chinese dinner? That's like 2 tables and slightly more than a dozen relatives and friends, not including both your parents? Woah babe, I envy you! Erm, didn't your parents clamour for a big-scale Chinese dinner ... or do you have small families?

Btw, what's a civil ceremony? Is that like taking your vows in front of the Solemniser (or whatever you call those state-appointed folks who marry couples)?

My parents have no friends and we were married in California far from Marv's family in Asia. And, no one in our families is particularly traditional.

From Wikipedia:

A civil ceremony is a non-religious legal marriage ceremony normally conducted by a registrar.

Ah, I see ... lucky you! Sad to say, even in modern S'pore, tradition still rules when it comes to wedding ceremonies and receptions. It really is about the parents rather than the couple. Most young couples I know of would rather do away with all the "pomp and circumstances", and just move right on to the real fun ... their honeymoon!!! Hahaha!

Yah, a lot of unexpected things to consider ... erm, at least for this gorilla lah. J seems to have a better handle on wedding stuff to be honest.

Heh, of coz marriage can be pretty scary, especially for guys lah! But there are also a lot of things that make the bridge worth crossing. No point me trying to explain them to you brudder. It's something a guy has to discover for himself when the right woman (and time) comes along. ;)

Aiyah, don't have to be envious lah. Go get engaged/married yourself lor! LOL!

I don't need Vera Wang lah.. Just a nice little chapel.. a house by the sea.. horses in the backyard.. (He's standing behind me as I'm typing this with a scared look on his face). ;p

*Splashes holy water in your face* Though I'm sure you'll be splashing your own 'holy water'. Hur hur hur. ;p

House by the sea? Horses in the backyard? Erm, seahorses in an aquarium with a miniature water-pump cottage in it can? ;)

Aiya i think you should film all of this down and narrate it and send in the tape to Mediacorp and ask them to seriously reconsider using it to replace that crap show "A Light Affair" lah. I think it'll attract more viewership anyday lor!!!

I don't think viewers will wanna tune in to a gorilla rambling hor, especially with such tongue-in-cheek, non-serious wedding commentaries. Heh, not very "lomantik" nor helpful for to-be-weds lah. LOL!

Erm, I've not watched a single episode of "A Light Affair" actually. That crappy ah?
