Patricia had a feeling this trip was going to be a disaster. She wished an Auror had been sent with her one more time before holding out the canister to Charlie once they reached the proper coordinates. One his hand wrapped around the canister below hers, she activated it. Martha had been right, it was a longer trip than usual and she felt quite sick by the time they reached their destination ( ... )

It only took Charlie a few seconds before he fully came back to his senses after the portkey journey. The trip had been chaotic, admittedly, but he had experienced much worse before - Romania was really far away, and the portkeys to there were not all of an even quality, either. He glanced at Patricia, whose face was rather pale; she looked like she could use a little rest, but then again, that was probably not written in the Manual of Miss Perfect Ministry EmployeeAfter a short moment of pondering, he decided that, since part of his mission was to ensure that Patricia arrived at the negociation site alive and well, he might as well start doing his job right now. Therefore, he walked towards her as she talked, shaking his head. "We're not going anywhere before you have sat for a bit," he said, pointing a small bench right behind Patricia. "No offense here, but your face is as green as that of a baby clabbert... I 'd hate to have to carry you to the Centaurs ( ... )

"I'm fine," she assured him, though the churning in her stomach begged to differ. "And we have a delicate time table to stick too." Despite her protesting, she didn't resist when Charlie took her by the elbow and led her to the bench. She sat, though feigned annoyance, and resisted the urge to exhale in relief. Maybe she did need to sit for a few moments. And have a decent meal, as she was starving.

While Charlie was observing the faded posters in the windows of the shop behind them, Patricia reached into her bag to pull out the notes she took on the rumored centaur uprising. She began to skim them again, repeating the main points on behalf of the Ministry in her mind. Unfortunate circumstances...deeply regretful...lifted restrictions...

Glancing up, Patricia squinted against the sun, wondering how it was Charlie didn't burn on the spot with his fair skin. Curious, though she didn't dare reveal it, she kept her tone neutral. "What is a baby clabbert, by the way?"

Charlie's face lightened immediately at the question. Talking about Magical Creatures was something he could do for hours. "Ah, you've never seen a Clabbert?" he asked, on the same tone he would use to tell his younger siblings stories about this or that animal. "Well, they look like monkeys, but have the same eyes as frogs. And they have this really ugly pustule in the middle of their forehead -ugly, but highly convenient: it flashes red whenever danger is near. Fascinating creatures, they are. In fact, it has been said that Sneakoscopes have been inspired by Clabberts' pustules ( ... )

The man was an oddity. He was absolutely nothing like Percy. Percy was refined, and professional, and well spoken. Charles Weasley was...not. She tried not to be offended at the idea that he was comparing her to one of those monkey frog hybrids with pustilles, or pusteles, or whatever he had called them. Of course he was only calling her green, but still. She'd never known a man to stammer that much. She also never knew anyone who seemed to get so excited over magical creatures, especially ones that sounded as horrid as a Clabbert. When he came out and dumped the bag onto the bench next to her, she ignored his icy attitude and dug into the bag for a sandwich. She was hungry, after all, and she knew it wouldn't benefit her to go into this meeting with the centaurs on an empty stomach ( ... )
