A Mother’s Prayer

I close my eyes and send a silent prayer to God and my mother for help. My Charlotte is headed for disaster I fear. She insists on continuing her involvement with William. Of all the people she could be with, why did she choose William? Maman, I beg your forgiveness for worrying you so. I now understand how you felt about my first marriage ( Read more... )

Maman, you know that I have thought a good deal about this subject, but William is the man that I love with all of my heart. I will always love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him ( ... )

Charlotte, let me remind you that you are in England because I allow it? I can make a phone call to the Windsors and you would be home before nightfall.

It isn't about just becoming a Protestant. This is about giving up everything you have ever known and cared about. Your grandfather would make sure you got none of your inheiritence. God what am I saying? They will never you marry William! Don't you see? As wealthy as we are, don't you think they would have wanted a marriage between our families long ago if they had thought we were suitable? Whatever they may tell you, you will never be allowed to marry him Charlotte! They do not have to be mean to you! It just will never happen! They do not care right now because they don't see you as a threat! You are seen as good practice for him Charlotte. I am not saying that William sees you this way. But his family is ruthless! I do not care if you hate me Charlotte! I speak the truth and I will not see you used in this manner!

Could not Charlotte be allowed to marry for love in that I have done as you wished me to do?

Do not start, Andrea. I want only what is right for both my children. If I feel that both of you are making terrible mistakes, I will take whatever action I can to stop them. I do not like what you are doing either, as you well know.

The fact remains that I have agreed to do as you wished. Choose who I marry and let Char be.

Bloody Act of Succession! They should get rid of it. The way things are going these days Wills would be lucky to find a Christian girl who is still a virgin when they get married. I myself think it's a lot of rubbish but I can't do anything about it; I'm just married to Lilibet, and even she can't do much about it. Advise, consent and warn ... spit in the wind if you ask me.
