What is the world really coming to?

Opened up the Prophet to the sports section and discovered this. This--I'm not even sure what it is. It's like a monkey tore pages of a dictionary out, ingested them, and puked the words onto the newspaper page. It's barely coherent.

Dueling? Really? Wizards still do that? Wave their wands at each other and try to see which one's bigger attempt to ( Read more... )

Mate, please. Why are you still hanging onto the Arrows? What comes up, must come down. And, with this brief spurt towards the top, they'll start plummeting. Did you end up going to see United V Arrows? That was a good set. I don't think I need to remind you, whether or not you went, that Puddlemere crushed them. Ah, but go ahead and hold your head up while you can, mate.

I have to agree you about the Dueling, though. That's kid stuff. Bowing and shooting sparks at each other and whatnot.

How's the store going? Sometimes I find my hands itchin' to start working on a broom when it's late and night and Wini's asleep. Old habits die hard. My broom has been so polished lately that I've had to stop for fear that I'll wear her down before it's her time to go up to the Great Goalpost in the Sky.

You know why, mate. I look my best in pale blue and silver. Because honestly, can you imagine me in United blue and gold? It'd be a right travesty! And no bloody jokes about Hufflepuff colours, right? The Wasps are a joke of a team, ever since they lost Bagman as a Beater ( ... )

What an opportunist. I should expect no better from an employee of Quality Quidditch Supplies.

Well, you're right about one thing, Yorker is a poor show of communication ability. Must have been a Gryffindor, or a Hufflepuff.

And the Cannons... tell me you're joking. But then, you're an Arrows fan? I suppose you would be sympathetic.

Naturally! I've no qualms about it. Public forum and all, right?

Well, the byline states that the reporter took quite a few bludgers to the head. Concussions aren't pleasant. Was a victim of one or two myself during my Quidditch days at Hogwarts. Your brain's addled for ages afterwards.

Nope, not joking at all. Chudley's fans define the sport. You can't get any more devoted than them. Look, it's easy to be a Pride or a Kestrals fan, right? They're near the top. It takes quite a bit of nerve to be a Cannons fan. You'd have to be a bit mad. That's what makes Quidditch fans so brilliant.

Indeed.

Oh, I'm no stranger to concussions. Of course, I was usually the one giving them.... I've played the game. But I'm not so charitable as to think his ability (or lack thereof) to communicate is the sole result of excessive head trauma. To get hit by bludgers that many times, the problem must have originated long before Yorker took to Quidditch.

So you admire madness? Interesting.

Perhaps or perhaps not. I'm still rather impressed by the fact that he can string words together and that the Prophet's editors are fooled into thinking them coherent.

Madness inspires to an extent, doesn't it? Whoever thought it was a good idea to race brooms about? We wouldn't have Quidditch otherwise. Suppose it's what you do with your insane idea that's important. Not all of them are exactly beneficial, are they?
