Ohai. Time for an update again, as requested once more by the lovely morbane. ;) So, I'm taking a leaf out of both her and screwthepast's books and bringing you a wedding planning update. Fun, fun

Wow, I can't wait to see the dress (totally understand you wanting to keep it secret, though!) but those examples of Rasha's work are gorgeous, and what you've described sounds like it'll suit you so well.
Ah HA!!! I was waiting for the U2 to appear somewhere in there!!
Seeing all your Wellington references in that post makes me miss home So. Much. How are you my love? I'm coming home for a bit in June (just a flying viist) so hope to see a bit of you and your bridy self then!
Photo booths at weddings are all the rage. Very de rigeur. Things are chugging along here; I'll let you know when I get to the next station! I really want ice cream. That's it - I just want a big tub of ice cream and to sit down and watch the royal wedding. What do you want this weekend?
Well, Wellington certainly misses you! As do I. We shall definitely have to catch up when you're here in June. :D How about another delish dinner at the Argentine place?!
I shall send you an email in the next couple of days, with some news and some wedding-y stuff! Can't wait to hear all about you and your adventures in the merry ole land of Oz. :)
Did you watch the wedding in the end? I thought Kate's dress was pretty. She and Wills looked happy- though he looked really bored during the sermon!
What do I want this weekend? More money. For January, and everything else. Living in the central city, on one salary (Matt's back at Uni), while saving for a wedding? Don't recommend it. ;P
"My 'maids will be wearing cocktail dresses (handmade by my awesome friend Holly!), most likely in blue, and I'll be knitting them shawls in a raspberry red."
Blue & raspberry red are one of my favorite color combinations!!
First off, your wedding is going to be so much better than the royal wedding. TBH, while I am happy for them, and do believe that they love each other, the whole thing was so fucking unromantic. I HATE weddings that are not about the couple.
You are taking on a lot of DIY stuff, good for you! Making your own fascinator's a fab idea, too!
Aww, Decemberists-esque paper goods, that's lovely! I will keep my eye open for sheet music for you for the stunning flowers!

I agree, it was horribly unromantic. I think Kate and Wills are great, and look adorable together...but, as I said in my FB status, it really was just a big fancy Anglican church service, with a wedding just casually thrown in there. It was not about two people in love, it was about how grand and awesome the Church of England (supposedly) is. I really do think that if Kate and Wills had their own way, they'd have done something *very* different. A lot more intimate and personalised, for a start.

I was going to get one custom-made- but that was going to set me back about 200 bucks. And if Matt's parents don't end up contributing anything (long and annoying story

<3 "Tables will be named after albums we love." Think that is an awesome way to bring the music thing in as a connector around the place along with the decorations etc etc.
Let me know if there's some plain knitting of squares/rectangles that don't involve increasing or turning the work. I can knit a damn good square or rectangle. Even happy to do it in double moss stitch if need be ... just no slip stitches or fancy hoo-ha that ain't more than knit this stitch, purl this, cast on X number of stitches and end with X number of stitches (although I can decrease ok).
Oh and on the photo booth idea of things .... I have a polaroid camera - u'know, take the photo and it spits it out at the front. Got no film but happy to see if I can source some. Could use that and get people to stick em into a book and write messages to you.

Is the dreaded garter toss commonplace in NZ?
