Oh no! It turns out that the allergy pill I take for pollen allergies is not allowed in donated breastmilk. I'm taking chlorpheniramine, which is considered harmless, but apparently it's not harmless enough for preemies. I have to wait seven days from taking the pill before my milk is donatable again. Donating breastmilk? I'm intrigued... Is this a program run at a hospital/ doctor's office? Its a great idea!

Yeah, it's a cool idea. There's a milk bank in Austin, and you just drop off donations there or if you can't get out a volunteer will come and pick it up. I thought it was for any parent who can't produce breastmilk but still wants to give it to her child (sometimes people who adopt babies will try to get human breastmilk for them), but it turns out that there is so little of it and so many preemies that it all goes to preemies. In fact, the nurse I spoke with said that Austin has had a bump in the number of preemies lately and they're having a hard time meeting demand. *guilty*
