I Alert You To An Interesting Book
I am partway through a book by Charles C. Mann (and it just occurs to me what a marvelously patriarchal name it is! Irrelevant, not his fault, I am already over it) entitled 1491: New Revelations of The Americas Before Columbus (Knopf, 2005). Molly Ivins crossed over today. Check out the Texas Observer for her obituary. Sharp, intelligent, Texan, hilarious, astute, red-haired, six feet tall, amazing, awesome, and now gone. Among her parting instructions: "Raise more hell." And a reminder: "We are the people who run this county. We are the deciders...."

Wow. This American accent quiz is remarkably accurate. I don't say "pop" in place of "soda", and I could have sworn I don't even say "soda" in anything like an "Inland North" manner. Crikey. Or, more accurately, jeepers. ( cut because everybody hates in-your-face quizzage ) -

Oops, I disappeared for a few days
I unexpectedly didn't have internet access at my recent stay.
