No damage here...

Oct 25, 2021 10:04

The line of storms swept through my area without doing much damage--they developed into monsters on the eastern side of the state, sending several large tornadoes through southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. I used to have a lot of relatives in the area around Chester, Illinois area. My dad grew up in nearby Swanwick/Pinckneyville, and his ( Read more... )

The weather here is quiet and greyish, after yesterday was bright and sunny.

Dinner: pasta with beans and shoarma meat, courgettes and onions; two satsumas for dessert.

Ooh, those potatoes sound yummy. I made the mistake of having a sandwich at 3:00, so I'll probably only be hungry for a salad for dinner (carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, and croutons).

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have damaging storms. We're supposed to get TONS of rain and wind tonight.

I heard there'll be a nor'easter... the weather is turning wacky everywhere, sadly.

Mmmm, salad.

I'm glad you all are okay and the worst of it missed you! Weather here has been swinging back and forth between absolutely beautiful and very cold and rainy. I was just talking to my dad today, wondering when we'll get our first snow of the season. We're definitely past peak fall and it's pretty common to get at least one good snowfall toward the end of October, even if it's too early to stick around long.

Dinner here was meatloaf tonight. Jus a premade one that was in the markdown section at the grocery store, but quite good, and definitely a convenient quick meal for a busy deal, eve if it doesn't quite live up to the ideal of the classic cheese-stuffed family recipe. *g*

We've had snow around Halloween before, but this year looks to be perfect Halloween weather--cool and dry, but not so cold that you have to wear a jacket over your costume. I always hated it when my mom made me wear a winter coat over my costume when I went trick-or-treating! LOL

Mmm, meatloaf. I've never had one with cheese in it, though. What kind of cheese do you use?

We use mozzarella cheese! After mixing the ground beef and all that together, we flatten it out in a big rectangle shape and spread mozzarella cheese and thin-sliced ham over it, then roll it up like a jelly roll cake so it's got layers in all the bites. Makes for very, very good meatloaf. :D

And you add ham as well! That sounds so delish! And very rich.

I made a chicken and vegetable (mild) curry on Sunday, so I'll be having some of that today.

Some day I want to try a mild curry. It's not a big part of the cuisine locally (there are some Thai places, but Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese are more popular), so it's a little hard to find. I doubt hubby would like it, so making it from scratch doesn't appeal.
