[It's rather late at night when the journal clicks on. Luke had waited until he had calmed down from the nightmare he had to make the post, and good thing, too. Otherwise it'd catch the tremor he surely had in his voice.

Instead, he merely sounds subdued, and maybe a little hesitant.]Does anyone have any good stories to tell ( Read more... )

[It is a terrible thing and he hopes you never get it.

Luke blinks at that question... Then blushes, though the camera doesn't catch it, and looks away as he rubs the back of his neck.]

It's kind of embarrassing...

... Uh, nothing! My... I, uh... like adventure and stuff.

[He is not about to mention that his favorite book is a kids' book.]

Usually the best way to fall back to sleep is to get knocked out.

I can lend ya a hand with that.

... What kind of method is that?! I don't want to get knocked out, I just want to go back to sleep!

Hmph... Same difference.

No it's not! No one wants to get knocked out!

[Miyabi's been known to stay up late at night like this sometimes, finishing off paintings and other works. She hears the tone in Luke's voice, hesitates only a moment to think, then sets aside her painting to pull her journal onto her desk instead. She doesn't speak, nor inquire, she just sets her brush down onto the open pages...

...and paints.

The scene is one she knows very well, and comes from her brush easily. It's Wep'Keer, the Oina village in Kamui. Black ink with touches of blues and grays, running with a bit of water and lots of white.]

Once upon a time, in a snowy city far, far to the north...where many say evil first took root, a tiny village is located in its center. For many long years, this village, called Wep'Keer, received the blessing of the twin mountains...the Guardian Peaks, Ezofuji.

Life was pleasant for the Oina people, who lived within the icy village...until one day a darkness swept over them, unlike many have ever seen.

Miyabi...?

[But he quiets down after that. Her stories are always really fascinating...]

[She smiles into her journal when her name is called, and even paints a little heart in the lower left, just to show she heard him. But, because she doesn't want to interrupt her story, Miyabi continues.]

A dark, black cloud appeared in the sky, like a living shadow. It headed straight to the Wakwu Shrine, where the statues of twin devils, Lechku and Nechku stayed sealed away. [Miyabi paints the dark cloud, only this one had a big, gaping, red eye in its center. It was hovering over two strange looking clockwork owls.] The twin devils had been slain and sealed away long ago by a brave and noble Oina warrior, wielding the Guardian Sword, Kutone, but this darkness...it woke them.

And they rose with every intent to bury those that did them wrong.

[Whoa... But man, those owls looked kind of weird. Still, this story's already got him interested, and keeps himself sat up with the pillow held against him as he watches and listens to the story.]

So what did they do?

[One more for the insomnia crowd. Sigh.]

...Perhaps dream leaves would help.

Dream leaves? Is that some kind of tea or something?

It can be brewed in a type of tea. You'd have to be careful not to use tainted leaves though.

[He doesn't even know if they have any here. This makes him want to check...]

... How can you tell if it's tainted? [He's never heard of tainted tea leaves before.]

Well, if nothing's working for you, a hammer should do the trick.

I did call it a last resort.

Just don't go telling Asch about it. [Knowing him, he'd gladly hit Luke over the head with a hammer to get him back to sleep.]

Hey, do you have any stories or something? Something that's not hammers?
