Cookieman and I had a great weekend in NY visiting xeven and mr xeven. We invested in a dirt cheap ($35 round trip!) and always exciting Chinatown bus* from DC to NY. We have arrived safe and sound in VA after a damn long day of travel. We opted to take the train from L'Boro to London (which, including the 20-30 mins it takes to schlep ourselves + luggage to the train station, takes about two and a half hours.) I mentioned that one of the things I was craving on this trip was clear quahog chowder. I thought I'd include a recipe for the dish, in case anyone besides laurelwood was interested in how it's prepared. I don't necessarily think anyone will be compelled to make it at home or anything. My flight to Boston was surprisingly comfortable. The food was enjoyable! I had an aisle seat, and there was no one in the middle seat! The lady in the window seat was interesting and chatty, but not too chatty!
