Calc I Prep

Mar 09, 2007 16:45

Hey I'm an undergad and I'm going to take Calculus I this summer. What sort of resources/materials would you recommend I have to do well in the course? (I'm asking this because I really am not fond of the text book we're going to use). Would anyone recommmend getting one of those "Calc for Dummies" or "Calc Demystified" books?

Thanks.

I consider Calc for Dummies to be a pretty good reference book for Calc Fundamentals.

Free Calculus resources I recommended in mathematics.

The textbook I used to learn Calculus. I saw a listing where the book can be yours in basically brand new condition for ~$5.

Go to http://www.numbertheory.org/book for a Linear Algebra text you may need in the future.

The single most helpful thing you could get is a solutions manual for whatever textbook you are using.

I second this. I didn't use any other resources and didn't do any "prep" before going into Calculus I and earned an A. The solutions manual is well worth the money. (Except my current Diff. Eq. one, which shows solutions for multiples of 3 and works the problems out much different than my professor, thus never making sense to me, thus having no use to me!)
